So sorry if tmi...
I have been to the doctor about a haemorrhoid and she said to use anusol cream. This hasn't helped and every time I try to go to the loo I can't as it's like passing razor blades. Please asvise me as to what to do :( Very miserable indeed x

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

By the way I am 6 months pregnant if that is relevant to any advise....

Is it definitely a pile? Not a fissure?

Brodicea · 04/11/2013 13:32

Can you go back urgently and say the anusol isn't helping? I get a bit intimidated by Drs who seem a bit dismissive, but you are within your rights to say 'right, tried that, it still hurts like hell and I can't poo'. It sounds like they might need to give you some sort of a laxative (or recommend something gentle) to help you soften the stools... poor you!

These little things you never know about pregnancy until they happen to you!!!

Oo bonzo might be right, it could be a fissure. I had one and it hurt so much I was crying!

elcranko · 04/11/2013 14:03

Sounds like a fissure to me too. Definitely go back to your GP, you don't need to suffer in silence. Good luck x

Londongirl84 · 04/11/2013 14:05

Is there anything they can do for a fissure?

When I had them in previous pregnancies, I found the suppositories were more effective than the cream personally. But definitely go back if the GP's suggestions aren't working.

Thank you for all your advice about quite such a horrible topic!!! So appreciated :) x

orit could be a thrombosed (sp?) pile or an abcess - you should go back to the doctor

bonzo77 · 05/11/2013 11:45

In pregnancy the treatment for a fissure is piles ointment and a gentle laxative like movicol. It really helped me. Once you have had the baby you can try GTN ointment, or surgery as a last resort. Mine comes and goes (not pregnant now) but is mostly fine.
