Now I know how young mums can be naive sometimes and I know it sounds a lot like wishful thinking, I'm 19 and 33 weeks pregnant but me and my mum are convinced I'm a bit further just be past events and things..

I had a 12 week scan but it was very rushed and she only did one quick meaurment and a few checks and sent me on my way..

I then had a scan at 17 weeks just to check the gender and it was very clear and developed for 17 weeks!

I have had a rather difficult pregnancy and started getting bad Braxton hicks at around 23 weeks and every midwife I spoke to said you shouldn't get them till atleast 25 weeks and shouldn't feel them, so that confused me!

Anyway I had a lot of rib pain soon after and was uncomfortable and had a sharp pain in my ribs when I took deep breaths in so I asked if it could be my little boy kicking me there? (As at this point i was DEFINITELY feeling him kick me in the ribs and even get a foot stuck there, it's a feeling you know!) and the midwife told me it was 'impossible' because my uterus was a few cm's above my belly button so wouldn't have that for a couple of weeks but I know it was him kicking me in the ribs!

Ever since 19 weeks when I started havin problems this was the first time they started measuring my bump I've been constantly measure 2 weeks ahead through out and didn't think anything of it untill all the other things!

I had a 32 week scan recently and he's weighing 5lb1oz, he's head down and low. The person doing the scan was pointing out that my placenta had dark 'ageing' marks on it, I looked into this and this is supposed to start happening around 34..

Ever since 28 weeks my boys been head down and getting lower and lower! I'm 33 weeks now and it feels like he is gunna fall out! My mum thinks he's engaged as I'm in a lot of discomfort and can't bend or sit with my legs closed and even sitting in certain ways it feels like there's a bowling ball in my bits!

As I am aware there are only guidelines and I may just be experiencing it all sooner cause of his size but I dunno I just have a feeling I'm a little ahead than what I may think, my bump has noticeably dropped too! Please no harsh or blunt comments I'm just very curious as want to know if I should atart preparing hospital bags etc if I am a little further along! Sorry for the rant!!

l would trust your instincts on this. Every pregnancy is different! Key thing is to relax. For me, this means getting things ready in good time. Can't hurt to pack a hospital bag in the next week or so. Baby will have his/her own ideas on when to arrive, of course! Good luck and treasure every minute. xx

Hi, I guess there is no way of knowing for sure, as you say it's just a guideline. I would definitely get your hospital bag ready though, you never know when you are going to need it! Good luck Smile

Definitely get your hospital bag ready just in case. Were you given a due date based on your LMP when you first discovered you were pregnant and did this date change much at your 12wk scan?

cinnieetaylor18 · 04/11/2013 15:07

I was given a rough one but couldn't tell exactly as was on the pill and they asked what my EDD was on my 12 week scan and she just wrote that down before even checking him :/

Even if you are 2 weeks ahead - it doesn't really matter. Baby will come when it's ready.

It is possible. It is not an exaxt science. However it is also possible for babies to be born quite early or quite late even if the dates are right. A friend had a perfectly healthy, and discharged from hospital within 2 days, baby at exactly 35 weeks. (Also know of healthy babies born a lot sooner) so no harm being ready to go.

If you want over the top. I had my bags packed, with bits in individual zip locked bags (yes I KNOW) by 30 wks. Dd came on her due date......

ABitterPIL · 04/11/2013 15:24

Tell a lie it was packed by 27-28 weeks

Rockchick1984 · 04/11/2013 21:22

Its possible, but the difference between the development of a 12 week foetus and a 14/15 week foetus is significant so its unlikely. My DS was fully engaged at 32 weeks, felt like I had a bowling ball between my legs for the next 8 weeks until he arrived on his due date!! I was convinced he would be early because of this, but most of the other mums I've met since had first baby engaged around the same time.

Certainly no harm packing your hospital bag now though - I had mine done from about 30 weeks just coz I knew if I left it til last minute it'd never get done!

CinnabarRed · 04/11/2013 21:25

I had full on BH from 18 weeks with all 3 of mine.

CinnabarRed · 04/11/2013 21:26

And all three went to term (38+0, 40+2, 38+1).

Chelsealady · 04/11/2013 23:05

Im 19 too and I have only been told today at my 32 week checkup i could be 36 weeks as i have never had regular periods. Anyway today baby was fully engaged and she measured 3 weeks ahead so it is possible!
