swelling- what's normal, what's not?

can anyone tell me what to consider normal swelling in pregnancy? I am 33 + weeks and for the last couple of weeks have had quite hot swollen hands. my feet and ankles are ok, swelled once by the end of a day but not since, and my face is fine. I can still get my wedding ring off but it is tighter, as is my watch.
should I be concerned?
TIA

It may be down to the heat, but if you're worried have a quick word with HV, MW or doc

both my preganacies my rings got stuck at about 30odd weeks and had to be soaped off. doc said this was perfectly normal. wouldn't worry if i were you, in this weather your hands would probably swell even if you weren't preg!

If worried go to the docotrs so they can check your urine & blood pressure, sounds quite normal to me though i was like this & my legs swelled quite often, it was only on my actual due date when i went to see the mw for my last appointment that she found protein in my urine & my blood pressure was up but i was fine till then, i then went in to labour 4 hrs later!

thanks everyone - i went to the doctors this morning after my feet ballooned yesterday as well- my blood pressure is up a little bit but no protein in my urine - she thinks it is just the heat and has told me to take it easy and they will check again at my hospital appt on thursday.
thanks again for your advice.

Hi Olivio, do you eat alot of wheat ? ie wheat cereal for brekkie, sandwich for lunch, scone for snacks etc ?

Too much can cause water retention, so if you are able to cut back, you might find an improvement.

Just giving it a try myself (36 weeks) although I only start to swell when I am sitting at a desk...convenient huh ?!

I have increased the amount of wheat I've had actually - couldnt handle it before with IBS but now pg, less IBS and more bread and cereals. will try that, mojomummy. thanks!

I had my ds last summer when it was quite hot and my feet were huge. When you pushed your fingers into them they left imprints! My rings came off at about 33 weeks (as I was worried if I left them on they wound have to cut them off) and, although I didnt notice at the time, when I look at pictures, my face had swolen loads. MW said it was hot weather too. Everything was fine and swelling went down pretty quickly after I had him. Did read it can be to do with the position of the baby and what it is lying on (in a magazine though so take with a pinch of salt!!)
