apologise in advance for tmi.
oh and I did the deed this morning(about ten o'clock) for the first time in about three weeks.
all normal afterwards.
got up and showered, went shopping, came home and ate lunch, watched a dvd in bed until I drifted off to sleep about 4 o'clock.
woke up at half five with a damp patch about the size of an apple underneath me and damp undies.
it was clear,odourless and watery.
I have had an increase in discharge this pregnancy but its is usually thicker, whiter and not quite as much.
ive also now got mild period type cramps.
im 36+4.
anyone?

Sounds like more than discharge to me and you're almost at term so if I was in your position I think I'd give the maternity unit a call at the hospital. They may want you to go in for monitoring.

MickeyTheShortOne · 03/11/2013 18:46

yep that sounds like waters to me.... i would give the maternity unit/midwife/hospital a ring.

eek!
forgot to mention that I haven't had a show that ive noticed yet.
is it possible for waters to go with no loss of plug?

Get checked out ASAP. I didn't notice my plug with DD1.

Good luck Thanks

Curioushorse · 03/11/2013 18:55

Yes. Phone and go in. Period pains was labour for me.

Apparentlychilled · 03/11/2013 18:55

I had exact same w DS at 36+1 and even asked midwife if it could have been a damp patch after doing the deed! I had him 4 hours later. I'd get yourself to hospital.

Apparentlychilled · 03/11/2013 18:57

And I didn't notice my plug going with either DC

ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 18:58

call the hospital and tell them you suspect your waters broke.

ask for an internal examination to check this.

if the waters did brake risk of infection is the one to watch out for - if you didn't go into labour soon they'd have to induce you.

ask them to take a swab and check for Strep B, the previous discharge could indicate you have that infection which must be treated.

thank you.
going to eat my roast that lovely oh has just cooked me then phone! lol.
im starved.
also forgot to mention that at my midwife appointment on wed babies head was 2/5ths engaged(second baby) but she did say that with seconds they tend to pop in and out.
sorry to keep drip feeding.

Have you rang? What did they say? X

urtwistingmymelonman · 04/11/2013 06:02

well still here.
phoned hosp and they said to put on a pad and to lie down.
if I had any more leakage, cramps or decreased FM's to phone back and they would want me to come in.
did that and everything subsided so looks like a false alarm.
guess im going to spend the next three weeks symptom watching.

Hey - my waters broke without seeing my plug, it did come out later that night though! def keep an eye on it - as pp said there is a risk of infection if waters gone. I went in for mine to be checked and was booked in for an induction 24 hours later if I hadn't gone into labour before then. It also doesn't have to be a gush, my friend had similar to you and thought it couldn't be her waters, went for scan a week later to check her placenta (not related) and was told barely any waters left and had been leaking for a while, was booked in that day! So you never know...any more 'discharge' and I would be tempted to ask to be checked just to be sure. Good luck! Smile

MrsFlorrick · 04/11/2013 08:24

Could be either. It's very hard to tell. I had massive amounts of discharge during the last weeks of my first pregnancy. Went to see midwife a few times just to check is wasn't waters. So don't worry just see midwife/hospital.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 04/11/2013 09:26

Are you sure it wasn't semen? Sorry Blush

On another note, towards the end of pg with dc2, I had a lot of watery discharge but was checked out and it wasn't waters... Just discharge! (nice) I had to have my waters popped at about 6 cm.

(by the way I'm so jealous of your weekend, I remember days like that-currently pg with dc3- savour those naps and late morning shags! Grin ) x

urtwistingmymelonman · 04/11/2013 10:31

wasn't semen revelations.
was six hours and a bath after sex!
this is my second but first ds has a different dad who he was with yesterday so when this one comes along bye bye weekends.

Ok, just thought sometimes it can, um, hang around a while and then come out later! Blush

Hope everything's settled now.
