Convinced you know the gender of baby

At 10 weeks I'm sure I know this baby's gender. As I was sure with my previous pregnancies. Didn't find out til they were born but right both times

Has anyone experience of being sure but then being wrong? I appreciTe the statistical arguments.

I was convinced i was having a boy from the start, everyone told me i was going to have a boy also. I even had a boys name picked out...20 week scan came couldnt of been more shocked when they told me "probably a girl". I then convinced myself that maybe she was wrong but i had them confirm at my next growth scan it was defo a girl.

BummyMummy77 · 01/11/2013 22:00

Until my 20 week scan I was 1000% positive it was a girl.

When they told me it was a boy I ran off and locked myself in the toilet and wouldn't come out for 10 minutes.

After telling dh his sperm was shit I chilled out and after few hours was totally over it.

PrincessKitKat · 01/11/2013 22:06

Grin Bummy. 'Your sperm is shit DH!'

I can't stop calling our soon to be PFB 'she'. It just rolls off the tongue...

Beckett3 · 01/11/2013 22:10

I knew each time, 4 out of 4. Did have a slight waiver with the last one due to a dream but it didn't last long!

Suzietwo · 01/11/2013 22:30

Heh bummy! Were you upset because it was a boy baby or because hush you were wrong...?

EmB1715 · 01/11/2013 22:32

I was wrong. Totally convinced this one was a boy...nope!

BummyMummy77 · 01/11/2013 22:34

Hmmmm, very good question.

Well I was effing FURIOUS that I was wrong and looked like a dick and had people being all smug and told you so but I think I was just building up in my head how having a little girl would give me a chance to do all the things my Mum never really did with me. Dare I say it, to do things a bit more 'right'.

Suzietwo · 01/11/2013 22:38

Just do those things for your boy....but maybe with fewer frills.

Seen your other thread and it sounds like you're close. Good luck!

I would have bet my whole salary that I was expecting a girl.
When I was told it was a boy at 16 weeks it took me days to get my head around it. I felt like I had lost my little girl even though I had never had her.

redcaryellowcar · 01/11/2013 22:44

I had a bit ofna feeling that dc1 was a boy and we had found finding a boys name lots easier than girls, but i wouldnt have been so convinced i would have told anyone, we are expecting dc2 next spring, finding choosing girls names easier, but i am even less sure this time round!

Thurlow · 01/11/2013 22:46

I knew. I just knew. And DP agreed, even though we were both saying girl when we'd always imagined having boys. And we were right. I don't believe in anything woo, but I do believe in a gut feeling.

GuessWho04 · 01/11/2013 22:50

I was convined I was having a little boy, my sister thought it was a girl, did all the tests, which said girl, but never found out officially. A lady at work commented on buying me a blue baby grow as she thought it was a boy. I sensed what I had before I even looked at the bits, mothers instinct, I knew. I ended up with a little boy!! my instinct came from nothing but a feeling, and only having picked out a boys name!!

Writerwannabe83 · 01/11/2013 23:10

I was 100% convinced I was having a girl, the alternative didn't even register in my mind.
Needless to say, I'm having a boy Smile

terilou87 · 02/11/2013 00:02

Iv been 100% sure with all 5 of mine and was right each time 2 girls and 3 boys, I carry totally different with boys all to front and girls all over, also I have no morning sickness or anything with girls but boys I'm heaving from implant.

JustCallMeBaldrick · 02/11/2013 00:11

I was sure that DD was a girl right from my BFP, and was right.
I was convinced this one was a boy - till the CVS results came back!! Another girl to even up our numbers Smile

MrsFlorrick · 02/11/2013 00:33

Yep. I was. Both times. First time I was convinced it was a boy. It was a girl. Second time it was the other way around.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/11/2013 00:37

2 out of 3 for me! Smile

GreenSunrise · 02/11/2013 02:04

Convinced that I was having a boy both times. Based on a strong gut feeling but also seemed to the in with all of the old wives takes- bump all at the front, no sickness, baby's heartbeat in the lower half of the normal range. Both pregnancies felt exactly the same.

I had a boy first time and a girl second time.

I was so convinced second time round that I refused to discuss any girl's names with DH and FIL had bought a new baby boy card before she was born based on me being so sure! Grin

ZingWantsCake · 02/11/2013 02:21

DC1 - I was pretty sure it was a boy - I was right!

DC2 - I was utterly convinced it was a girl- I was wrong, we had another boy!

DC3 - I had no strong feelings either way, I did wish for a girl for the very last week of pg, but kind of expected another boy - we had another boy!

DC4 - I had a strong feeling for a boy's name through entire pg, so kind of "decided" it will be a boy 5 mins before they took me to the op theatre (ELSC) - had another boy!

Pg5 - MC but I know it was a girl

DC5 - I was so convinced it's girl I bought over £100 worth of girl's clothes/sleeping bags on Ebay.
at 20 weeks we found out we are expecting another boy!

DC6 - I thought it would be a girl, but I was wrong twice before, plus another boy was more likely, so I was telling everyone it would probably be a boy.
we had a girl though!

(currently TTC for #7 - and no, we didn't keep going till we had a girl!)

eggsnbeans · 02/11/2013 07:21

I knew from 10w that DD was a girl, this time i'm convinced boy but not going to find out Grin

My mum was totally convinced my sister was going to be a boy though Hmm

Babysealion · 02/11/2013 07:24

I was 100% certain from day 1 that I was having a boy. Told everyone at work I was sure I was having a boy and couldn't even imagine my baby being a girl. 20 week scan and he was 'possibly' a boy. 24 week rescan (routine check for spina bifida, naughty baby not behaving first time round so we couldn't see his back!) and when we asked the sonographer to check, he had his legs wide open and we could clearly see he's a boy! Grin

laura0007 · 02/11/2013 07:25

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and from the moment I found out I referred to the baby as he. I had a boys name picked out and only looked at baby boys clothes. Everyone kept saying it was a girl because of how I was carrying etc, but low and behold at the 20 week scan I was right. I just knew.

stillenacht · 02/11/2013 07:32

I thought it was more common to get morning sickness if pg with a girl.

I had no morning sickness with either DS and neither did both my Dsis with their boys. DM was sick as a dog with us though.

dimdommilpot · 02/11/2013 07:32

I was convinced DD was a boy! I would of put my house on it! We didnt find out prior to birth. It was a suprise when OH said 'oh, its a girl...' This time im convinced another girl. 23 weeks and we will see if im wrong.

Suzietwo · 02/11/2013 07:35

Damn you all! How can you all be wrong and shake my confidence like this! Cinders and ashes!
