Convinced you know the gender of baby

At 10 weeks I'm sure I know this baby's gender. As I was sure with my previous pregnancies. Didn't find out til they were born but right both times

Has anyone experience of being sure but then being wrong? I appreciTe the statistical arguments.

i was so convinced i was having a boy with dd2, at the anomolies scan they couldn't tell me the sex as she was in the wrong position. i was so shocked when she came out a girl, i wasn't disappointed because i love girls but i was very very suprised to the point where i almost felt i was grieving a little for the boy i'd thought i'd have.
with dd3, i refused to venture any guesses at all!

MrsHelsBels74 · 02/11/2013 07:36

I was absolutely convinced my first was a girl, was quite shocked when we had the 20 week scan & he was definitely a boy!

Homebird8 · 02/11/2013 07:37

I was sure DC2 was a boy. DH was sure DC2 was a girl. At the birth I found out the gender by DH saying "Looks like your mother was right." Can't imagine why he was surprised. I usually am Grin

intersting! not only have I heard the opposite more, but my nausea and the actual being sick was way worse with the boys!

Doitnow · 02/11/2013 07:41

I was absolutely convinced that DD1 was a boy. I even asked the midwife to check when my DH had told me she was a girl. I didn't believe him.
Second time round I thought DD was a boy but wasn't so sure as the previous time!

SerotoninCanEatTomorrow · 02/11/2013 07:42

We had a pill mishap when I got pregnant. I knew I was pregnant before I POAS and knew it was a boy straight away :)
I was right!

Bakingtins · 02/11/2013 07:47

I've been totally convinced both times and have a 50% rate of being right. Funny that. Wink

Suzietwo · 02/11/2013 07:54

zimg my experience is the same as yours. Much easier pregnancy carrying a girl than a boy. But I do wonder whether I was more used to the hormones second time around

I had no idea. I knew what I wanted it to be but had no strong feelings/instincts either way.

Two very opinionated people told me I was having a boy. They were wrong Grin

ZingWantsCake · 02/11/2013 08:03

suzie

maybe you were, but I was sick for 6.5 months out of 9 with DS3, which was the worst of all my pregnancies!Grin

Suzietwo · 02/11/2013 08:07

Oh god poor you! I've heard some people say they think boys are harder pregnancies because of the testosterone. But who knows.

I did think that because the girl pregnancy was calmer the child would be too. Ha. HahahahahahahahahahahahahHa.

So convinced with my first that wouldn't entertain the idea of having a girl no sexing at 20 weeks where I lived. Had a girl who had no name for weeks as I hdn't even thought of any.

Grin @ easy pg - easy baby/child logic!

stillenacht · 02/11/2013 08:11

I heard the oestrogen made you sick from female foetusGrin

IBelieveInPink · 02/11/2013 08:25

I was asked at 10 weeks what I thought baby was and immediately said girl. Told DH that scan would show girl. Which it did. As did scan at 31 weeks. She's due to pop in 2 weeks so can confirm then!

However, I had no sickness, and am carrying all out front, so old wives tales would suggest boy. They are wrong ;)

ZingWantsCake · 02/11/2013 08:29

ah, the belly shape!

I was exactly the same with all 6. I have pictures to prove it!Grin

lookatmycameltoe · 02/11/2013 08:39

I just knew DC1 was a girl. There was no doubt. I was utterly shocked a devastated when HE was born. I honestly felt like I'd been given the wrong baby. I'd split up with his father after finding out I was pregnant and and felt sure that it would be me and my daughter against the world. Also scans had been 'inconclusive' so people told me that usually meant girl.

When pregnant with DC2 and 3 ten years later I was determined not to focus on the sex as clearly I have no instinct abilities. Even so I was convinced they were both boys (old wives tales) and they were girls.

I'm rubbish Smile

CheerfulYank · 02/11/2013 08:47

2 out of 2 for me. I knew my first was a boy, he is. :) No sickness with him but I was so emotionally unstable and depressed from about 5 months on. :(

With #2 I was happy as a clam, but...violently ill and medicated for seven months. She's a girl; I knew she was!

Now if we go for #3...wonder if I'll be emotionally OR physically distressed, or both, or neither! Wink

stillenacht · 02/11/2013 08:57

Also I bled quite a bit in both pregnancies with DSs... I wondered if that was more common with boys.

rallytog1 · 02/11/2013 09:05

I was convinced I was having a boy. So was everyone around me, including the midwife on the labour ward. All the old wives' tales about symptoms, bump shape etc suggested boy. I bought babygros with robots on them.

We got a bit of a shock on the operating table when the surgeon said "it's a girl". I made them double check!

She looked awesome in her robot babygros anyway.

pinkandsparklytoo · 02/11/2013 09:15

I thought both of mine were boys and I was right. The pregnancies were different to each other, lots of morning sickness with DS1, none with DS2. This time I am starting to think girl but I'm not sure if that is just wishful thinking based on having two boys already. Grin

PastaBeeandCheese · 02/11/2013 09:45

I was convinced my DD was a DS. This time DH is convinced its another DD and I'm refusing to guess.

greentshirt · 02/11/2013 09:55

Hahah baking, I was just coming to say similar! You do all know it's a 50/50?! There's just as much chance of being right as being wrong, which I'm sure we will see as the thread goes on!

Sorry to piss on your chips ladies! All the old wives takes and predictions people make in pregnancy are my pet hate, NO ONE knows, it's just guessing!

morgs22 · 02/11/2013 10:04

Me and my partner think its gonna be a boy but I think that's more because its what we would both like rather than being convinced. I keep telling dp if he calls it a he itll be a she. But we'd be happy either way, boy or girl its gonna be perfect to us Grin

greentshirt · 02/11/2013 10:06

Well it's definitely going to be one or the other, that's the only certainty!
