Bought myself some evening primrose oil and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it?
Does it really help ripen the cervix?
Any tips to make it successful?
And where should I be popping the capsule? On my tongue or...erm...somewhere lower?

34 weeks you could start orally, then vaginally at 36/37 weeks?
thats what i did, then at 38 weeks switched to borage oil (more potent).

ive been told my cervix is soft (which was the aim) but i dont know if itll make a difference to my labour- being induced in the morning (40+1). plus ive had 3 kids before so i dont know if its due to that x

I'm 39+4 so should start popping them in now? Lol

Ooooo, how exciting! Good luck with the induction! Hope it all goes nice and quickly for you xx

thanks... i cn tell you the epo or borage oil made a difference... i put in 4 last night as a last dose. just had my first examination n im already soft, mid position, effacing and 2cm dilated. i found the capsules made my BHs abit stronger n more frequent, but not actually inducing anything. n obvs that helped cos my last 3 were induced and i started with a hard posterior cervix of steel.. which made inducing hard n long.

so id defo say its worth a try x

i started using it around 38 weeks and havent found or had any benefit from it sadly im due today with my 3rd baby and when the midwife did my sweep only thing i know was its low she didnt say it was soft or anything so really it hasent done anything for me sadly

Thank you ladies!

Any update honey? I've been induced twice and both times I've been posterior too...last one ended in emcs so they only have 2 attempts with the peseries if I need inducing this time. Will carry on with epo in the hope that it will help speed things up.
It can't hurt at least.

Due to have a sweep on Monday so will know if it's doing anything at all!

hi
turned out to have made that difference.

baby colby was born on 3rd nov 9.17pm weighing 7lb 10.5oz.

went in to find im already 2cm dilated and soft. took overnight to get to 3cm with the pessary, then an hour to get to 4cm. then labour ramped up n i shot to 10cm. my body started pushing by itself at 6cm- the doc said it was literally pushing the cervix out the way! baby had his cord tight round his neck though so his heart dropped and we were rushed in for emergency forceps. from 4cm to delivery it was 1hr 17mins.

home now but still a little in shock xx
