Anyone had an induction at 37 weeks?

Was it a sucess or too early? Just worried my cervix wont be ripe enough!( being induced because of bp problems!)

PS...My SIL was induced at 38 weeks, all was fine, labour wasn't too bad and baby was fine too. Good luck

I was induced at 36 and 1/2 weeks due to various problems. DD was born prefect and health. She was sleepy for the first few days and it took her a while 2 feed but apart from that no problems. The labour was pretty fast. Only five pushes and out she came.

Had my first baby induced at 37 wks....... was told they wouldn't attempt it unless cervix was favourable (which mine allegedly was). The lady in the next bed asked for one & was told her cervix wasn't ripe enough.

Mine took 3 lots of prostin gel with nothing other than prostin pains - it wasn't till 2 and a half days later that my waters suddenly went, then labour began straight away & was fast & furious...... with dd being born 2.5 hrs after the first contraction!

i was 37.5 weeks
worked first time with just the gel stuff
ds1 was perfect.
very straght forward birth

hew got ill 3 days later but nothing what so ever to do with induction or birth

he was here within 8 hours of the gel being applied.....less than 4 hours of labour

i was 37 weeks and had pre eclampsia so had no choice really.
Ds was healthy but only 5lbs 2oz due to the pre eclampsia and poor state of my placenta.

was told I was totally unfavourable and was going to be in labour 'at least 24 hours' dd nearly born down the toilet 2 hours later. (Well I believed them so thought I needed the toilet!!) Was 37 + 5 BTW

I was 36.5 weeks when dd was induced because of pre eclampsia, labour and delivery were fine, about 14 hours, she was only 4lb 8oz, took a couple of days to get the hang of BF, and had light therapy for jaundice, but was absolutely fine and is now a petite cheeky 11 yr old.

I was induced at 37 weeks with my first one. I took a long time to get going and in the end they had to use the drip (take the epidural if this is likely!), but successful in the end, yes.

Second one, I was induced at 36 weeks. Went a lot easier, pessary worked, successful!

Both times were because I had Obstetric Cholestasis.

Could you start taking raspberry leaf tablets/ capsules? I think these are supposed to soften your cervix. Drinking the tea is apparently useless as you'd have to mainline it to get enough.

Yes I was induced at 37 weeks as my waters went and I failed to go into labour. They didn't bother with the prostaglandin gel though, straight to the drip. My cervix didn't ripen at all and I had an EMCS. Maybe would have worked if I'd had gel? Csection was fine though :-)

I wasn't expecting to go straight to the drip! Thanks, nice to know what might occur. I was induced at full term last time, and had the pessary so I thought that was what might happen this time. I wonder if they will just the gel as they might be expecting I need it.

Did you get your cervix examined on arrival?

I was induced with my twins at 37 weeks, partly out of pity for me, as I lost my voice for 3 weeks after laryngitis , and was very big ( I'm only 5 ft 1), the stretch and sweep the doctor did, ( basically a good rummage!! was painful, but brief, as was having my waters broken, as the drip to bring on contractions was not very effective, but other than that no problems and both babies safely delivered at acceptable weights. I was told afterwards that it was good I delivered when I did as my sons placenta was a bit raggedy ( whatever that means) but all in all a good experience. So if it's what you need then go with it, but don't be afraid to ask questions.

Yes I was examined but it was a bit vague, said they could see some amniotic fluid but cervix was closed. i was having regular but very weak rubbishy contractions that would last a few hours then stop then start again. They induced the following evening (36ish hrs later).

Induced at 37 weeks, full works starting with propess and up to drip. I had a great birth experience, pain wasn't unbearable (didn't need epidural) and DD was born perfectly healthy

I was induced at 35+2 due to waters breaking and labour not starting naturally. Had the gel first then drip. Longest part was getting into labour but once in labour progressed quickly. Was able to cope with the pain(I have a rubbish pain threshold) and only used Gas & air. DS was born healthy. Good luck!
