Anyone worried about getting pregnant by mistake ?

I seem to have got pregnant by mistake and in the middle of a summer of fun - late night drinking / smoking sessions etc etc. Now I'm sh*ting myself that something will be wrong with the baby. I already have a two year old who was conceived when I was behaving (sort of) like a nun. In the last few months, I've been letting my hair down and enjoying not being pregnant or breastfeeding. Oopps. Anyone else worried or can anyone reassure me ?

both of mine were suprises... first one i found out after 8 weeks and was lashed for most of them ( i was young and having fun) he was perfectly healthy and 8lb 6. dd i went on a hen night, drank lots of tequila etc for a couple of weekends.. she was 8lb 15 and no probs. you can't change what has already happened, so look after yourself now!

I was probably sozzled every weekend (and I mean seriously!) until I found out at 6 weeks I was PG.
DS is a strapping healthy lad. Just make sure you look after yourself now you know.

DD... found out I was pregnant after a period of lots of vodka... she's fine. Just stop now you know you are pregnant.

Both of mine were unplanned and although not a huge drinker I found out I was 10 weeks pregnant a week after a works summer party at a theme park where after one particular ride I couldnt physically speak and then onto a night of drinking

like others I only found out I was pregnant after Xmas (when I was around 6-8 weeks) and was still working so had been to about 5 hugely raucous Xmas parties, a champagne drinks party and a weekend trip to Sunderland (sitting in the smoking bit on the train as there were no seats) to watch Chelsea play football in the freezing cold where virtually every local person was so impressed to see us, we never paid for a drink the whole night

now that you know, take your pregnancy vitamins, cut down the boozing and chill

With ds I had done a pg test which was negative, went on holiday to France and drank copious amounts of wine, ate soft cheese and pate. Came home, still no period, did pg test and it was positive. Spent the next 8.5 months worrying the baby would have two heads or something but he was fine. Don't worry - just knock the booze on the head and start eating your greens. Congratulations, btw!!

My story's similar to YeahBut's.. thought I was pg, did loads of tests, all BFN. No af, still thought I was pg, went to the doctors for a blood test which was also negative. The weekend after the negative blood test I went to friends for the weekend, went to a football match and out for a meal, got completely mullered. When the hangover hadn't cleared after 3 days I did another test and BFP!

I did worry that I had done my baby harm but she was born perfectly healthy. As the others have said, don't worry about what has gone, look after yourself now and congratulations .

No, but I know at least two people who did with no ill effects. Again, as long as you stop now that you know that you're pg it's highly unlikely there'll be a problem.

I know it's easy to say this but try and relax, you'll have enough to worry about soon without thinking about unknowns.

I hope you enjoy your pregnancy.

i found out i was pregnant with ds after a christmas and new year and had been out drinking nearly every night and smoking lots and he was fine, thou i did stop once i found out!

PinkTulips · 06/07/2006 23:13

waddles, with dd i was smoking (fags and the other stuff) and drinking til i found out at 9 weeks and she was 7.4lbs at birth and there isn't a thing wrong with her.

my aunt who isn't going to win any mom of the year prizes smoked 40 a day and drank all the way through her pregnancy and has one of the healthiest kids i know who was 8.5lbs when he was born

NotAnOtter · 06/07/2006 23:19

I did not find out i was pg with ds until i was 9 weeks.
Christmas had occurred in those 9 weeks...i had drunk tonnes...smoked tonnes....other things had been taken that should not have....!!!!!
I was so ill at a party that i vommed all down my front and carried on dancing ( NICE!)
I was young ...ds1 was 7lbs 10oz ....he is lovely!

Thanks everyone - very VERY reassured. Glad to see that I'm not the only mum in town who still wants to party hard when they can. Of course now I'm pg not a drop of booze or smoke or anything else of a naughty nature will cross my lips xxxxxxx
