Came in on Friday with pains and midwife thought I was in labour! Pains showing on monitor every 4 minutes. Got myself all excited thinking my little princess was coming! Then........ It all stops!!
Still getting pains but no dilating! Now been diagnosed with water infection and put on antibiotics for 5 days and told I have to wait til the 12th for my c section as the hospital say that I will then be 38 weeks and 4 days! However I know 100% that they have my dates wrong and I am already 37 weeks and 5 days and just want my baby here!!
Fed up if being on the maternity ward and watching others come and go with their babies whilst I sit here having pains and getting no where!!
Sorry don't actually know what I want from this thread I'm just so fed up and needed a moan. Feel like I am cracking up!!! X

How are you doing this morning princess?

Excited2meetmyprincess · 29/10/2013 08:21

Hi
Not felt any movements during the night. The midwife said that because the babies heart rate is fine that she must be moving but I honestly can't feel it at all!! Was on the monitor for an hour and felt one movement and that was when I poked and prodded her until she moved. :-(
I am supposed to be getting a team review today so hopefully I will see my doctor and find out what's happening and what they are going to do. I just hope they do something as I am shattered and so fed up!!
Xx

Been back on the monitor and baby's heart rate is fine again. They said as long as that's ok they aren't worried about the movements as they can monitor her anyway, it's not like at home where the only way I know is if she moves.
Personally I'm not happy that the midwife seems to be dismissing the fact that she is moving so much less but I guess they know better than I do!! But will still mention it to the doctor when I see him.
I am planning on asking them to bring my section forward but don't know if they will. Well I pretty much doubt they will to be honest but worth asking!!
Thanks for all the messages. The chatting and updating u all is keeping me sane haha xxx

As long as the heart rate is ok and they're keeping an eye on you, and assuming they won't bring the section forward, then all you can do is relax.

Any idea when the doctor will be along?

Excited2meetmyprincess · 29/10/2013 11:52

Nope I was told I would see one Sunday morning and he didn't come til 9pm then I was told I would see one yesterday and no one came so I'm just hoping one actually arrives today!! Lol.
I am still praying they will bring the section forward but I am trying not to get too hopeful as they probs won't x

Explain to the next midwife you see that you want to see a doctor within the next hour or you will raise a formal complaint at being fobbed off for 48 hours despite reduced movement.

Excited2meetmyprincess · 29/10/2013 12:20

They keep telling me that the baby is moving and she must be because if not her heart rate would be different but I really can't feel any movements and at this stage and the size she is surely if she was moving I would feel it! I have been feeling her move since 17 weeks so why would I suddenly not be able to feel them anymore?? I dunno part of me thinks obviously they know more than me but then the other part of me thinks its my baby and I know something isn't right!! X

SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 12:35

It might be because space is getting tighter in there, so the types of movement are limited - more wriggly, perhaps, than the jabs and kicks of earlier pregnancy so more difficult to feel?

Have a look at this What to Expect article.

TwoTearsInABucket · 29/10/2013 13:04

That sounds shit excited, you're in hospital and they can't even get a dr to see you? I hope you are bearing up, you seem relatively calm. Glad you are having a section and hope they will sort themselves out soon xx

Excited2meetmyprincess · 29/10/2013 13:59

I am trying my hardest to stay calm but it is getting harder and harder when I am just sat here waiting to see someone!! My DH on the other hand is no longer calm and is starting to get annoyed. Think its more because I'm in pain and there isn't anything he can do and he feels a bit lost.
My sis in law is on her way to see me and as she is a reflexologist she is going to give me a little treatment to chill me out and hopefully relieve some pain :-) plus its a nice little treat and will take up some time hehe x

I'm so surprised you aren't seeing a dr every day. With dc1 I was in hospital for two weeks with preeclampsia before he was born and there were doctors on the ward rounds every day. DH stayed once to "have a word" with the consultant about why they weren't inducing me.
It's very hard not to worry, I hope you feel more relaxed and less pain after your treatment. And let your oh ask questions of the medical staff. It's good to have someone fighting your corner. Could you get your neurologist invoked somehow??

Big hugs Thanks

Excited2meetmyprincess · 29/10/2013 14:19

I am thinking I may contact him if I don't get anywhere today as I am fed up of just taking painkillers. Surely it can't be good for the baby for me to be drugged up a the time. But if I don't take them I'm in agony!!
Going to give it until my DH comes in at six (he had to go back to work today otherwise he won't get time off when baby comes) and if not seen anyone I'll let him speak to them xx

OP posts:
TwoTearsInABucket · 29/10/2013 14:26

I would contact your neurologist just for advice and maybe he can chivvy maternity staff along.
You wouldn't be given pain killers that would harm the baby, although I can understand your worries. I was quite stressed at having the blood pressure tabs for so long especially when there's so much crap you can't take in pregnancy.
Keep asking about the doctor in general though. It can feel like you are pestering but do it anyway! I hope your DH gets to speak to someone as well.

Zombieminx · 29/10/2013 17:37

Has a dr seen you yet? Did you say what I suggested earlier?

Awful level of care being provided. Sad

Excited2meetmyprincess · 29/10/2013 18:14

Nope still waiting to see one and now the midwives are all in handover so can't speak to anyon apart from the poor student who just got a mouthful because I'm so fed up!!
Tempted to discharge myself as its bloody pointless being here when they not doing anything anyway!!
I will be saying it when I finally see someone!! Xx

OP posts:
SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 18:17

Not sure that saying the level of care is awful will help the OP, unless you're there and medically trained? The baby's heart rate is reportedly fine, and they won't bring the section forward unless there's a clear need.

How's it going, Excited?

TwoTearsInABucket · 29/10/2013 18:27

Well it is awful if she hadn't seen a dr yet. I'd be freakin livid!

I hope you are ok excited.

SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 18:35

But the baby is showing no sign of any problems, according to a qualified midwife, so I'm not sure what the basis would be for the doctor to be involved further.

TwoTearsInABucket · 29/10/2013 18:44

For reassurance? And to perhaps explain why excited is still in hospital?

SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 18:54

I'm sure they'd love to be able to offer reassurance to whoever needs it but, with the best will in the world, they're probably quite stretched so have to prioritise.

SomethingOnce · 29/10/2013 19:02

Sorry, Excited, a bit off topic there.

It sounds like you're receiving adequate care, if not what you'd ideally like. It's clear you're frustrated but try not to take it out on the staff.

Good luck with everything - will keep an eye out for your announcement Smile

TwoTearsInABucket · 29/10/2013 19:16

Yes, I'm sorry too, this isn't helpful!
Hope you have a nice visit from your DH.

Excited2meetmyprincess · 29/10/2013 20:56

Hey. Not seen doctor and been told it will be tomorrow now. They are keeping me in because of baby's movements being reduced. Had a new midwife whilst DH was here and she sat and went through everything with me and explained they don't want to let me go because I can't monitor baby's heart rate at home whilst she isn't moving but they can here!! So I feel a bit better about being here as I know its for the baby. But they have told me I will see a doctor tomora to decide what to do next and I am having a scan tomora as well x

TwoTearsInABucket · 29/10/2013 21:04

Thank goodness for that! At least someone is explaining things to you. That's the thing isn't it, it's only drs who can make the decisions.
I hope you get a good rest this evening and tomorrow is all good.
Thinking of you.
