I am 33wks and for the last couple of wks have noticed that I am leaking pee.

I also seem to be unable to fully empty my bladder.

Any tips on emptying my bladder fully?

Am I destined to smell like an old woman for the next 7+ wks?

Are you sure you don't have a uti?

Try leaning forward on the loo (as much as bump allows).

RedorBlack · 27/10/2013 21:33

Relax, this is completely normal. Smile Baby is just pushing on your bladder.

Lean forward as you pee to empty out properly, and most importantly do your pelvic floor exercises

If all else fails, panty liners may help Wink

JamInMyWellies · 27/10/2013 21:38

Its my 3rd DC never had this before so a bit shocked keep thinking thats it my bladder is ruined. Am using panty liners and frantically doing pelvic floors.

if leaning forward doesn't help. try leaning backwards or standing up straight ish! ( tricky I know but it works) to make sure you empty it all.
probably just the baby pressing on the bladder a little.

Also try stopping and clenching you pelvic floor muscs midstream, wait a few seconds and finish it off!!

there you go!! from a weak pelvic floor expert!

Frecklesandspecs · 27/10/2013 21:51

its my third too jam. but strangely for me I had awful problems before I had kids. it actually improved after dc1 and has been better since. Almost like something was out of place and has been kicked into place by childbirth!!

AuntieStella · 27/10/2013 21:56

If you can bear to, pee in the bath (rinse after) or in the shower.

And keep at the pelvic floor exercises, but don't do them midstream if you're getting UTIs (you don't want to impede the exit of urine).

JamInMyWellies · 27/10/2013 21:56

Freckles strangely enough the only time I feel its properly empty is after I have been in the shower. I feel the need to pee whenever I get in the shower.

Good Luck with your No.3.

;-) maybe the standing helps? bladders are crazy things! or maybe its because you are relaxed. part of my problem I was told was stress. gd luck with yours too x

Mogz · 28/10/2013 09:20

Ah, I've been beaten to it, I was here to leave a pee in the shower tip. It's the only time I manage to empty my bladder properly now.

Julietee · 28/10/2013 09:54

Actually, you shouldn't practice clenching pv muscles mid flow because it can increase the chances of infection with wee getting swooshed backwards.

Romily · 28/10/2013 09:55

Tena lights take some of the worry out of daily life too!

LadyMedea · 28/10/2013 15:41

Definitely get checked out for a UTI.. Particularly the feeling if not being able to empty could mean you have an infection.

Igloofornow · 28/10/2013 15:47

This happened to me with DC3, especially after showering as soon as I stepped out Blush

I thought my waters had gone once after swimming!

On the upside I've had to problems post partum, can still jump on a trampoline Grin

WandaDoff · 28/10/2013 15:54

Lidl or Aldi sell reasonably priced pads for stress incontinence. Cheaper than Tena Lady & much better than panty liners or sanitary towels as they are actually designed to catch wee rather than blood or discharge.

Don't be embarrassed about buying them. You are 33 weeks pregnant, it's totally normal.
This didn't happen to me til my 3rd pregnancy either & I'm glad to say wasn't a problem after DD was born. apart from when I sneeze

FizzlingFireboxes · 28/10/2013 16:28

Same here, it's DC4 for me so I guess my bladders taken a battering, I've been using Tena Lights for a few weeks now, I currently have a cold so sneezing is err a bit risky without them :) hoping it'll return to normal afterwards. Don't worry too much x

Oh and I'm only 26 weeks :)
