Spotting

Hey there. I am 6+5 and have been spotting for 7 days now. Light spotting, occasionally with cramps and back pain - varies between brown and dark pink. I am two weeks from turning 41 and this is my second pregnancy (first ended with a blighted ovum 10 years ago). Obviously, I am most concerned.

you need to see your GP asap who will refer you to early pregnancy unit for a scan , possibly when you get to 7-8 weeks.

I spotted baby was fine so try not to worry. but DO see ur GP who may refer you xxx

Thank you for the advice southernbelle79. Today was my first day without spotting since last Thursday (8 days). I actually do not even feel pregnant. I did have slightly sensitive breasts, but that has gone away. Other than a positive pregnancy test, I would never know that I am expecting. Obviously, I am very concerned with my age and the spotting, and the anxiety has been eating away at me. My next appointment is Tuesday. Hopefully I will have answers then.

Again, thank you so much your advice and reply! I really appreciate you!

Is there an early pregnancy assessment unit in your local hospital? I spotted in the early stages of my pregnancy, called them up and went straight in for a check-up. It would save you worrying until Tuesday.

They told me it was fairly common so try not to panic ??

Thank you for the advice, MyfavcolourisOrange. Unfortunately, I was told that spotting is typically normal and Tuesday's appointment is fine. I have been very worried. I really have no pregnancy symptoms at all. I am not sure what to expect on Tuesday - tests? bloodwork?

I'd had a recent miscarriage so perhaps that's why I was asked to come in straight away then.

I had a scan to check the heartbeat initially and thankfully all was fine, so I had some swabs taken in case if an infection. Everything was clear and it was simply 'one of those things' - I didn't have any symptoms either, I'm now 40weeks and desperate to meet baby!!!

I think that a scan is the first thing that they'll do then perhaps follow up with bloods/swabs.

Good luck Smile

Hi Orange,
I have had mild cramping today. No pregnancy symptoms and possibly very light pink discharge this morning (very light, so hard to tell). Since the 8 days of spotting, I had minor breast tenderness for maybe a day or two, now nothing. Nausea is gone, too. Sure wish I had a magic ball to see what is happening. I am just so worried about tomorrow's appointment. I have kept track of all spotting, etc, so I can share that with her.

I am very sorry to hear about your m/c. If you do not mind my asking, how did you know? Did you have any symptoms?
So excited for you to meet your baby! Please let me know when your sweet bundle arrives!

Hey Gretchen - I had no symptoms at all of a m/c when I had one, I simply went for my 12 weeks scan and found out that the baby hadn't grown since 8 weeks ?? I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms either - but as it was my first pregnancy I didn't really know what to expect.

Then, on this pregnancy I had spotting early on and no pregnancy symptoms again and naturally thought the worst but thankfully all was fine!

I don't think that you can know until you go and have a proper check-up. I hope it all goes well and they put your mind at rest tomorrow SmileSmileSmile
