Title says it all. This pregnancy has flown by, and dc3 is now due to arrive by ELCS in 3.5 weeks. I am totally unprepared, but have boobs, babygrows and a car seat so will get by! Can anyone remind me what I should be packing in my bag though?!?

Watching with interest, due ELCS in approx 5 weeks and although my bag's packed I have no idea if I'm missing something vital!

Nighties rather than pjs since you'll have a catheter and might not want anything tight around your scar, full brief undies, extra outfits for baby since you'll be in hospital for a few days. Good luck Smile

ReluctantCamper · 23/10/2013 21:07

hmmm ....
nice big knickers that won't sit on your scar

easy open PJ's so you can get your knockers out

pads for the bloomin' lochia

stuff to eat if hospital food is too awful

I took paracetamol but they kept trying to give me liquid morphine so I didn't need it in the end
A book
wished I'd taken baby blankets as hospital ran out so DS spent his first night asleep under a hand towel!

good luck!

I go in for my c-section on Tuesday and I have packed..

2 pairs of pjs
1 nightie for after the c section whilst I will have the catheter in
Plenty of maternity towels
Plenty of breast pads
Extra extra large black pants that will go above my scar
A large black bath sheet
Toiletries
Slippers

For baby I have packed..

About 5-6 baby grows/sleep suits
Same amount of vests
A hooded towel
A full pack of nappies
A full pack of buggies water wipes
Nappy sacks
A blanket
A coat for coming home
Bibs
2 hats
Socks

I am actually stuck on what else to pack, hospitals near me are trying to get all c-section ladies discharged within 24-48hrs so I have tried to keep to bare essentials.

been done many times before and taking no credit but

-usual things for baby and yourself list probably on this site
-straws for drinking laying down
-kids bottom wipes (but for you) maybe andrex
-gentle laxative
-arnica pills
-peppermint capsules
-tummy settling snacks and bottled water
-enough massive black cotton knickers
-black yoga pants
-easy to put on shoes for going home
-dark pj bottoms for 2nd night

if I think of any more I'll be back Wink

AJH2007 · 23/10/2013 21:16

Drinking straws for when you can't easily sit up!

Laquila · 23/10/2013 21:22

I found a pad and pen useful for writing down feeding times. Also I'd definitely recommend nighties over pjs, so there's nothing reading on your scar. Truckloads of snacks - I was ravenous afterwards! Slip-on slippers and maybe a thin dressing gown and a nursing/sleep bra?

Thanks ladies. Just been and stocked up on some bits. I'd completely forgotten about staws, peppermint and arnica!

OP posts:
Tinyflutterby · 24/10/2013 13:24

Is the arnica a cream or tablets?

windywoo26 · 24/10/2013 13:29

2 flannels for washing while still bed bound.

FallonColby · 24/10/2013 13:34

Peppermint tea is a must as trapped wind in my shoulder was the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life - peppermint tea was the only thing to help.

Inglori0us · 24/10/2013 14:34

Phone charger and snacks were the things I sent DH out to get. Also he filled a small water bottle with squash and brought that in.
Good luck with it all. It's great they try to get you home quickly. :)

Geneticsbunny · 25/10/2013 08:44

Arnica is good for bruising but the tablets you get are homeopathic and so depending on your beliefs either contain nowt or work magically. Can't imagine wanting to rub cream anywhere down there after giving birthShock. Lavender oil ( an antiseptic and relaxing smell) in a bath is nice. Or tea tree oil.
Not sure if baths are allowed are c sections though as I haven't had one.

Geneticsbunny · 25/10/2013 08:45

Oh and good luck Smile
