Has anybody else suffered from bad itching in pregnancy or OC??
I am 32+3 and itching like mad mostly at night it's stopping me from sleeping. Got to go see the midwife tomorrow morning for tests fingers crossed it's not a liver condition :( I am really worrying after looking it up online.
Has anybody else been or are in this position?

I had Oc in both pregnancies, drove me bananas! I also had gestational diabetes on insulin & OC was way worse cos of symptoms!

Usually worse at night & on hands & feet, although my itching got worse to the point I wanted to scratch my eyes & ears out. The gp should blood tests which you may not get back the same day depending on the lab. They need to take Liver function & bike acids, (Gps often forget about bile acids).
Try not o worry though, if it is OC you will need to be reviewed by an obstetrician soonish & have a care plan,'. It's an easily managed condition but a nightmare to experience. Take a piriton tablet if itching really bad x

I was diagnosed with OC 3 weeks ago at 33weeks. The itching comes and goes but nighttime always seems to be worst. I have had monitoring twice a week, a scan every week and am taking Urso, vitamin K and piriton. My liver test results did come back better after I had been on the Urso for a week but unfortunately nothing seems to make much difference to the itching. I am due to be induced at 38weeks. Its a worrying time but being extra vigilant about baby's movements is the advice I am getting from the HCPs.

I don't have itchy feet but I am itching like mad everywhere else, arms, legs, breasts, back, head, hands.. It's driving me insane..
Fingers crossed its excma or something although I don't have the marks for it..

Pink I was on urso, vit k, & piriton. My bloods did slowly improve (the liver tests were off the charts high)
I have to say the itching did improve slightly with the urso but not enough to keep me sane. I spent the whole of Christmas drugged on a piriton blur! Delivered @ 37 weeks

In my second pregnancy, symptoms started weeks earlier and with much more vigour! I hardly slept. Same prescription, except a menthol aqueous cream added in which I was rubbing in every few hours, my skin was in great condition by the time I delivered @38 weeks!

Jessica sounds ominous to me! I had generalised itching...

Jessica1992 · 23/10/2013 21:59

Sorry what do you mean by ominous?

Sorry I wasn't trying to unnerve you, it just sounds like OC to me

jellyfl00d · 23/10/2013 22:31

Sorry posted before I finished!

If it is that though, it really is manageable condition by the obstetricians Smile

Hi

I wouldn't panic as OC is usually characterised as intense itching on palms of hands and soles of feet. I've had a nightmare with itching both this pregnancy (currently 33 weeks) and my last one. Got tested last time and no liver issues etc-just put it down to hormones! Haven't even mentioned it to midwives this time as so confident it's nothing serious. I'm seeing her next Tuesday so I'll get bloods done then just in case

If I were you, I'd mention it to midwife and get checked but don't panic!
