Every day I do something embarrassingly (sp?) ditsy, and i can only hope it is a symptom of late pregnancy (and long days with 2 preschoolers) rather than a decline into early dementia. One of the main symptoms is not being able to drive my car without doing something idiotic, like putting it into reverse instead of 1st (not good when somehting behind you), or trying to place a food order in the pub twice, having forgotten that i'd already ordered.....am i losing it? I spend a lot of the time red-faced these days!

Oh no, WhisperMen, how mortifying to go out with just your knickers on Confused LOL

WhisperMen · 24/10/2013 15:15

I did wonder why the shop assistant kept giving me weird looks Grin

BookTart · 24/10/2013 16:57

Excellent work WhisperMen!

My driving has gone completely to pot. I've run red lights, forgotten what speed limits are, hit my wing mirrors on stationary objects, you name it I've done it! I'm at the point where I'm actually worried about driving to work every day because I'm such a liability Blush

WhisperMen · 24/10/2013 17:12

Todays pregnancy brain episode involved me completely forgetting out to boil water. I wanted to make rice and the instructions said to add it to boiling water. I couldn't work out where to get boiling water from. Burst into tears and DP came in asked what was wrong and spent half an hour laughing at me.

BookTart · 24/10/2013 17:55

Our brains will come back WhisperMen, won't they? what if they never come back?!

chattychattyboomba · 24/10/2013 17:57

Packed DD off to aunts house so that I can get some rest. I'm usually the type to over prepare the overnight bag covering all bases with a full inventory. I thought I did pretty well considering I can't stop vomiting, but forgot to pack her pyjamas. Confused
Yes probably not a big deal to most but I am slightly obsessive about being prepared with a toddler!

Today I was driving through a junction and performed a (very neat) emergency stop because I was suddenly unsure whether green meant stop or go. There was some swearing from the car behind me.

I have been driving for fifteen years. I am twenty weeks pregnant. I am doomed.

Inglori0us · 24/10/2013 18:24

I drove to the supermarket to buy milk and something for dinner. Walked home. Then, 3 hours later went to go to get in the car to collect dd from the childminder and assumed the car had been stolen. Called the police. Actually, I googled "what to do when car stolen" first. They asked when I'd last seen it. I said "well I drove it to Sainsburys 3 hours ago. Oh."

Sigh.
This story is wheeled out by DH regularly. Thanks for that.

beela · 24/10/2013 22:13

My main problem, both last time round and this time, has been numbers and dates. I regularly send emails to arrange to meet up with friends on weekends that don't exist, and get my numbers back to front, or think one number and write down a completely different one.

I am an accountant.

Monkeyandanimal · 25/10/2013 08:55

oh inglorious that tops them all!

I completely forgot how to make roast potatoes the other weekend - was about to put raw potatoes (peeled) in a try with a slug of oil in the oven until I suddenly remembered "something about par boiling".... d'oh!

I put a travel mug in the microwave at work yesterday to make some Horlicks. First, it didn't heat up very well. Fine, I put it on again. That time, after a minute or so, there was a loud pop and a very strange smell emanating from the microwave, which got a lot worse when I opened it. Horlicks seemed fine, but the cup smelt a bit weird. Couldn't figure it out at all so went back into the office and asked my colleagues, who looked at me in alarm....it was a metal cup, wasn't it Blush

I moved house halfway through my pregnancy. I drove all the way to my old house (about 5 miles out of my way) and it wasn't until I drove into my road that I realised I didn't live there any more.....

BummyMummy77 · 25/10/2013 14:49

I sent my brother a birthday card today and at the age of 36 - I SPELT MY NAME WRONG. Wtf?

MrsGSR · 25/10/2013 16:19

Yesterday DH told me DNA stands for national dyslexia association. I replied "shouldn't that be DNO?" no idea how I came up with that!

MrsGSR · 25/10/2013 16:21

I also locked myself in the house whilst DH was away and lost my keys. Spoke to him the night before he came home and told him he'd have to climb through the window as he'd left his keys on the dining room table. There was a moment of silence before he pointed out i could unlock the door with his keys...

Fakebook · 25/10/2013 16:41

Ingl0rious, I have tears running down my face reading that along with intense braxton hicks...thank you!!! Grin

I went to tesco when I was 32 weeks pg. I was on crutches and the size of a bloody house and all over hurting.

Id gone in there in a strop ( walked quite a long way on crutches because "d" p had refused to go in his car and get me mushrooms and avacado) they were major cravings.

Got into the shop and for the life of ke I couldnt remember wtf an avacado was. But I knew I wanted one really badly. I juat stood there and sobbed until some poor shop assistant took pity on me and asked what was wrong.

I was so embarrassed I didnt want to tell her so I just asked if she could show me where they were. She took me to the fruit and veg aisle and poimted in a general direction then went off on her way.

Cue me standing there.....total utter devestation as I still couldnt remember what it was. ( I didnt have my glasses so couldnt read a thing)

I went home with 3 bananas, a box of cress, a pomegranate, a pear and 4 boxes of mushrooms.

Ds is now 2.6.......it does not get better unfortunatley.

2 nights ago I was going out for dinner with a friend, told her I'd pick her up at 7. Hubby came to front door to say goodbye... I waved and walked off & he had to shout "babe... Your car!?!"... I had to turn round and walk back down the street to the driveway as I'd forgotten my car - still no idea how far I would have got!!!Grin

These make me feel so much better my pregnancy stupidity!

We have three secretaries at work. Two of them have the same name. I sent one of them an email asking them to send documents out for a meeting the next day. Midday the next day no email had gone out. so I asked the wrong secretary about it. She had no clue what I was taking about. So I talked to another secretary. She too had no clue what I was talking about. So I sent the email myself. Several hours later the right secretary came over and asked me if I still needed the email sent. I was so embarrassed! I know which Secretary is which normally! my brain just totally got confused Blush

It's always at work my pregnancy brain appears.

Jolleigh · 27/10/2013 22:33

This makes me feel so much better Grin

I've been unable to find my keys all week. Found them today while cleaning out the snake tank. Must have dropped them in while feeding her, but can't for the life of me work out why I'd have had them in my hand at the time Blush
