Hi,

36 & 4 today & have been having intense Braxton Hicks over the past few days.

Just been to the loo & when wiped there was mucus with a brown tinge? Is this the show that people go on about?

If so will be it long before labour starts? It seems a bit early ?!! However we are early birds in our family. What's the difference between mucus show & bloody show?

I have a hospital appt Tom so will check with them but as I am impatient what do you mumsnetters think ?

Thanks xx

Yeh it could be Hun. Was there a lot of it? From what I've heard it could be anytime or weeks away before labour starts if it is your plug. I lost my plug and my waters broke 1-2 hours after but I know people who lost theirs ants nothing happened for a week xx

Not a huge amount iwish which is why I am a bit confused. I thought the show would be this massive sign hinting "labour this way ladies!"

Lets see what happens. Bit worried as going away this weekend for an important event & fretting something will occur while we are away from home!

Sounds like it. But a show can come in several lots, and your mucus plug can grow back so doesn't really have a massive relation to when labour starts.

I lost loads of mucus at 37 weeks, I'm now 39 weeks and have started losing some more so who knows!!

The show can happen over a few days - mine started like you describe and I never saw the full show that is talked about as was in full labour iyswim. Pack your bags just to be sure!

Sounds like the show I had when DD was born - 9 hrs later!
I'd ring the labour ward and see what they think.

Thanks ladies! Right I am going to bed & let's see what happens overnight. To birth or not to birth.....

With the thunder & lightening outside I hope this doesn't turn into a soap drama esk type labour!!

it different for all but my show was only about the size of a 20p and I gave birth the next day.
mine was blood tinged but only slightly.

Hey,

Well I am still pg! No baby yet. I have been losing bits of the past few days.

Had a consultant appt yesterday & he didn't seem too fussed about it ( I have a low lying placenta & they are still tying to decide if it will move in time!). Feel ok so continue as normal.

Lets see! Xx

so exiting.

With my first daughter I lost mine which was mucus with a blood tinge and as soon as I saw it I went into labour but with my 2nd daughter I lost it and continued to loose a bit more over the space of 11days before I finally went into labour with her. But I've heard it generally means that the onset of labour is approaching..good luck Grin
