Went for 20wk scan today. Told them I felt bit of "something" on the right of bump, they said I have mild Hydronephrosis of the right kidney (left was fine). Has anyone had this? What happened? Thanks

In fact at our 20 week scan we were told that our baby has this. Nobody has said that it will be a big problem.but the right kidney isn't draining urine efficiently so she will need a follow up scan when she is born to determine the cause. It'd be worth following it up as your kidney obviously has a mild problem (although could be due to pregnancy). Go and see your GP for some advice. GL!

DS had this at 20 wk scan. We had another one at 34 weeks and then they checked him at 5 weeks and it was totally gone, was still totally gone at a follow up 6m scan too.
No problems at all now.

They might give your dc preventative antibios when they're born as there's a slight increase in the chance of them contracting a urine infection.

I know you were referring to yourself :) just letting you know that it doesnt seem to be a huge cause of concern for baby, so I expect the same goes for you. You need to follow it up though!

That's good, hope you get some answers and someone with more experience can chip in. Let us know how it goes!

Hydronephrosis is completely normal in the second trimester. We pretty much all get it and its caused by the size of the uterus interfering with urine draining from the kidney. Needs absolutely no intervention at all and will resolve after the birth. Symptoms to watch for are severe pain in the kidney (loin area on the back) and severe fevers/urine infections. In both situations go straight to your GP and mention the hydronephrosis. More than likely you'll be completely fine though! Grin
