So after having started trying 2 years ago, getting so stressed about it, and giving ttc a break, I have just got a BFP after we decided to just not worry and only DTD once this month.

So.... What the heck do I do now?? Do I go to the doctor? Do I do loads more tests to make sure? Do I tell them it's urgent as I'm on medication?

I just don't know where to start....!! Help!!

I'm 4 days past when AF was due. If calculated from first day of last one, four weeks. If from date of conception (which I can pinpoint Blush) about two weeks.

Congratulations. And dont panic about the cocktails!

Phone your gp in the morning, speak to the receptionist and see what the normal procedure is for your area. Some places you will see a doctor who will refer you to the midwives, others will just tell you the number of your midwife and you phone them directly.

You may want to at least have a phone consultation with your gp regarding your medication in case it needs changing or adjusting now.

I think the fact that you conceived when you STOPPED stressing about it shows that you should stay nice and relaxed. Stop worrying, make a GP appointment and enjoy being pregnant. Congratulations! You can't undrink the cocktails, it's not the end of the world, kick back and relax!

Mogz · 22/10/2013 03:03

Congratulations!
Firstly don't worry about those cocktails, baby doesn't have a placenta yet and is living off a very handy little yolk sac so won't even notice.
As you're on meds it'd be best to get a GP appointment ASAP so they can advise you on if you need to stop/wean off/not worry.
If you haven't already been taking vits and folic acid now is the time to start.
Now take a deep breath and enjoy your pregnancy!

Congratulations to you both Thanks

Congratulations and don't worry about the cocktails, at this stage they won't matter at all.

superlambanana · 22/10/2013 23:57

Thank you all Smile Doctor happy despite the cocktails Wink

I'm very confused though - he said I need to choose a hospital. Been on nhs website which mentions birthing centres. Can't find a search function that will just search for birthing centres. Website says ask midwife but I don't have one until I choose a hospital... And so on!!

Why is there not a 'what to do next' booklet?!

Did the GP not give you a pack? I got a fact sheet, a form to complete, and a list of which units to call

superlambanana · 23/10/2013 00:34

Nope, no pack... Worried now! He just referred me to the Emma's Diary website!

Some docs don't hand out any packs, depends how organised they are. You'll just have to look through your locals hospital's websites maternity sections to see what facilities they have. You must be close to a few if they're asking you to choose.
