Best pram?

Hi this is my first baby I'm pretty clueless when it comes to picking prams.

Any body have some good recommendations.

I know I sound fussy but I just like pram with 4 normal wheels lol I hate the funky 3 and space ship looking ones lol

Def go and road test as man as you can! There will be some you'll love and hate. Think about weight, suitability from birth, does it need to go into a car boot and also do you need the bassinet to be one the baby can sleep in?

I bought the uppababy vista and it ticks all the boxes for me

the right transport solution for you will probably be slightly different to everyone elses. When I first looked I really thought they were some sort of alien language i was trying to interpret.

Think about what you need to transport baby and how. For example I started off thinking about needing to get on the bus, coach, car and generally by myself. I then thought seriously about how I could make this easier for me with the choice of transport I chose, and the fact that I would be in the main doing this on my own. I need flexibility, easy to put up/ down, lightweight. I also thought budget wise what I can realistically get for the price I want to pay, and how long this solution will have to last me (can i afford to get another one?)

Armed with all this i started scrolling through the internet at some buggy sites to see whats out there. I am currently looking into a travel system type set up, basically a car seat on wheels, so its easy to fold up and have baby next to me on the bus and to transfer to a coach, which requires car seats.

I highly recommend the Uppababy Vista. Truly a great pram and getting more and more popular, it hasn't been in the uk for that long. It's easy to manoeuvre, travel system, big basket, nice height, folds away so easily too!

I don't know anyone who's had any complaints with icandy strawberry.... It's just beautiful.

think what you need i.e transport are you using a car or public transport think about how heavy it is and bulky i agree with others you will love some and hate some my pram was a bargain and i love it its the obaby zezu pramette it was £180 it was not the price tag for me i just love the pushchair but the biggest down full with it is that if you have a car you have to remove the carry cot to put it in the car that is my only issue and might be a bit bulky for busses but i walk every where so its fine for me :)

I have the Maclaren XLR as it was right for me. The right pram for you depends on:

*will you be walking or driving more?
*will you want one that is compatable with a car seat?
*do you want it to have a lie flat carrycot?
*will you need to fold it a lot (i.e. in your house, in and out of the car(
*do you walk offroad, woodland, sand, walking the dogs?
*are you short/tall, is your dh? Will the handle height need adjusting regularly?
*will you need a big basket (i.e lots of shopping etc)

I have the emmaljunga mondial and its fantastic!! Can't wait to get baby in it! Lol.
It is quite expensive and was £960 for the set (car seat etc) but personally think its well worth it. Although I know some people wouldn't spend that much on a pram.
But I would certainly recommend having a look at it. Xx

Look at second hand. Lots of nearly new - ie look like they've been used for a week - will be half the price of new. That represents an extra month on SMP...

I would always recommend a crossbar rather than two handles because it's hard to push two handles one-handed.

A small basket is a pain in the arse - once you've put the rain cover in, it's full, and then where does your King Size Mars Bar from the corner shop farmer's market butternut squash go, let alone your changing bag?

Travel systems are a waste of money - babies shouldn't spend long periods in car seats so you need a proper lie-flat solution, either a fully reclining pushchair or a carrycot attachment. Travel systems are jacks of all trades iyswim.

Its such a personal choice.

I would say the exact opposite of the last poster. I will only consider a travel system. I drive, school runs & in & out constantly. I wasted money on carrycots before so I wont bother this time, even though my baby is due in January.

The 2 handle buggies tend to be more like strollers, exactly whst I am after.

I've bought a total of 12 buggies/pushchairs/travel systems over 24 years... im on my 6th baby.

Think about what/where & when you will be using your buggy. Car or bus. Town or country. Winter or summer. Every one is different so ultimately you need to think about whst YOU want.

I agree about travel systems - I think they're the worst of both worlds and you need a carrycot where the baby lies flat.

We have a bugaboo chameleon and I love it, sadly soon to be traded for the donkey as DC2 is on the way. Will miss it, drives like a dream.

One HUGE word of advice I can offer is get one with solid tyres. The amount of repairs I have been asked to do on pushchairs and prams with inflatable tyres is ridiculous (I work in a cycle shop)

Dh and I too are looking for a pushchair and I've never seem dh lose his rag before, but my god he lost it whilst we were looking in john Lewis. We've taken to looking at what other people are pushing around and asking what make it is and what is good about it. First hand user advice is the best you can get, and as soon as you mention you're expecting, people will give you their time of say 9/10 congrats too by the way!

It depends. If you live in London get a bugaboo bee.

I have an ICandy Peach Blossom. It's brilliant as both a single and a double. I have literally went through about 20 prams and buggies at the least since DS1 was born and I seriously wish I went for this first!

I hated 3 wheels at first too!

I have a bugaboo cameleon and I love it. The only thing wrong is the shopping basket is very tricky to get to when the carrycot is attached.

I wish I'd gone for the uppababy vista though it looks amazing and the basket is huge

Peach blossom when dc2 arrives. I just love the flexibility of it and easy to push with with 1 hand when you need to eat or drink!

It is heavy but sturdy and feel it needs to be when you can put 2 kids in it. The travel cot attachment is greatand can be used overnight for first few months so makes travelling with baby v easy.

We also went for an iCandy Peach.

However, go to a good independent shop near you and get advice. Tell them what you need it for - e.g. do you live in the city or country? Car or public transport? How big is your car boot? How heavy can you lift - the Peach's chassis weighs quite a lot. Are you/DP tall? A lot of prams had handles that were too low for me - would have given me back ache.

Also look at their suspension - all prams are easy to push around on the laminated/carpeted shop floor but do they cope with cobblestones/uneven pavements?

They should be able to give you good advice. Also look around - we went to John Lewis, Kiddicare, Mamas & Papas, Mothercare and local independent shop. All stock different makes... We started looking at 15 weeks and took us at least 10 weeks to make a decision.

Last but not least if you're spending that amount on a pram - about the same as what we were - you should be able to get a deal including car seat. We got the BeSafe Izi Go for free with ours (best in test car seat). We bought it from our local independent shop as we got the best advice and no hard sale there.

I love my Bugaboo Cameleon! Can't wait till baby is here to use it. It moves so easily and is super easy to fold/put up. Looks great too. I agree the basket is hard to we to with the carry cot in it but once the pushchair is set up or the car seat is on it, it's fine!

I've just ordered the icandy apple 2 package which includes carrycot, pushchair bit, car seat adapters etc for around 595 which seemed reasonable for what you get.

But do go an try one. I went for mine because it was one of the only ones I could easily pick up to car boot kind of height. It's a v personal choice dependant on what drives best for you. I thought I wanted three wheel but couldn't steer it!

Hi ladies found one silver cross freeway it's around £600 with car seat and extras too in didn't really want to spend a whole grand on a pram and the more pricey ones look like the May fly them selves lol.

Fits in my car perfectly. Was a lovely one in mama and papa for nearly 900 polka dots and for the price was a bit rickety so going to go with the silver cross one :)
