Hi ,

I'm 15weeks and really want to buy a Doppler, pref off amazon as I have some vouchers for there. Can anyone recommend a good one? I had a look but to be honest I have no idea what is good and what isn't!

Thanks

Hi tiptop. I borrowed a summer baby one for my last baby. It was nothing fancy but did the trick and I found it really reassuring to hear my baby's heartbeat. Itcwas nice for ds1 too. now I'm upduffed with dc3 I will wait a few more weeks and see if I can get hold of another! Ebay here I come...

Good luck.

Angelsounds fetal doppler was amazing. £20 off amazon :)

Sammi1986 · 20/10/2013 19:08

I got the angel sounds too, but I got mine 2nd hand from eBay, £10 inc postage
It's painful on the ears if the volume is too high when moving it about too quickly, but I love it. Very easy to use

DaleyBump · 20/10/2013 20:07

You can turn the volume down :)

I also bought the angel sounds from amazon back in 2011 for about £12. I could hear ds's hb from 11 weeks with a full to bursting bladder. I haven't used it with dc3 as I'm not anxious about this pregnancy.

Stom91 · 20/10/2013 21:03

Yup angel sounds! It's brilliant

Franchini · 20/10/2013 21:35

Angel sounds. It's fab. Use your own headphones though. X

Honestly, I would go for the Sonoline B. It helps I know what I'm doing, and I'm not "fluffy", but I've found baby twice now just before 8 weeks - far earlier than with my other doppler (Hi Bebe) which was supposed to be really good too. It's really clear, far better than the ones the midwives have, and no static or anything. Most of my due date friends on another board have the Sonoline B and swear by it. You can get it pretty cheap on eBay/Amazon.

CrispyFB · 21/10/2013 09:26

Ahh.. I see you're 15 weeks - then a decent quality one is less important as you should have no problem whichever you pick!! The sound quality is great on the Sonoline but I don't know what the Angel Sounds one is like for comparison. You do get what you pay for though generally, and it depends how important cost versus clarity is for you!

I got the angel sounds one for £10 second hand off a friend and it's the best tenner I've ever spent. Heard hb from about 11 weeks. Although not every single time I tried so don't panic if it takes a while. From 14-15 weeks I could pick it up straight away after a minute or so. I've found it works better with baby oil rather than the gel.

Tiptop32 · 21/10/2013 15:47

Thanks for the ideas - will go and have a look and see!! :)

I bought this 1- bit more pricey but utterly, completely reliable and no mistaking the babies heartbeat for anything else... love it

Sonoline Fetal Doppler 3MHz Probe, BackLit LCD Display, 250ml Gel (as from Amazon)

BettyBi0 · 21/10/2013 18:58

Another vote for sonoline B. But all of them should just be used for a bit of fun/bonding. Try not to freak out if you can't locate the HB someday. I could regularly find the baby's hb early on the couldn't find it one day around 14 weeks or so and totally freaked. It was THE most horrible feeling and way outweighed all the reassurance I'd had from the doppler before and after on balance.
