Hello everyone:)

I'm 23 weeks pg at the moment and noticed my pee started smelling like sugar puffs yesterday!? Iv seen a few people mention that it may be an early sign of pregnancy but obviously as I'm already very aware I'm pregnant this isn't the case:/ Just wondered if anyone could shine a light on what this May be because of?

Thank you:)

Same advice here - sweet smelling urine may indicate diabetes?

ToffeePenny · 20/10/2013 12:44

Another one for diabetes - a friend had gestational diabetes and that's exactly how she described the smell.

Get it checked out.

Just read up a bit on GD and it's saying it puts you at risk of having a large baby. At the moment I have uterine notching which is putting me at risk of having a small baby and preeclampsia, can you have both at the same time?:/ xx

yeah she will b able to test sugar in the urine from a normal urinalysis it might not be anythin mayb u ate something very sugary to get the sugar puff smell. a family friend had diabetes whilst pregnant and had to follow a special diet and her baby was grand so try not to worry

Just make sure the urine sample you take with you to your appointment is your FMU sample - that way if there are any sugars floating around in it they know it cant be attributed to anything you have recently eaten or drank.
