How likely is it that I could be pregnant?

Ds is 8 weeks old and I'm ebf, but he sleeps 7.30pm to 7.30am so I not feeding all night. Have had a little bit of cramping and very light bleeding which I wondered if it was my period but it's gone now.

On Friday dh and I stupidly dtd with no protection.

Is it very unlikely I could be pregnant? We have no plans for a third child whatsoever.

Yup pretty unlikely, even if it was a period there's a good chance you won't be ovulating yet and the bf is pretty good at preventing implantation! But not impossible by any means, so may be worth taking a test in a couple of weeks anyway. Have you got contraception sorted out long term? If you are having periods you are definitely outside the LAM criteria, so need to get it sorted if you don't want DC3!

If it was Friday its still worth getting the morning after pill.

Thank you...feel so stupid and most definitely do not want dc3. eggs what's the LAM criteria?

LAM is lactational amenorrhoea (sorry no idea how to spell it!), essentially how exclusive breastfeeding stops periods returning in many women Smile

Criteria are, 1. bubs is under 6 months old, 2. no bleeding after your post partum discharge has stopped (so no period) and 3. no nutrition other than breast feeding. If you fit all 3 criteria there's only a 1% chance of falling pregnant! But if you had a period then you are outside of it unfortunately.

Did you get the Morning after pill in the end?

I'm not sure it was a period as such or bloody discharge - sorry tmi. Am ebf but dc has had 1 oz of formula when he was 6 days old. Didn't get morning after pill as I assumed it was impossible for me to be pregnant as I'm ebf.

Yeah not totally impossible (I know of a few people who are ebf with babies under 12 months apart Shock ) but pretty unlikely still Smile

I think any bleeding after your post partum discharge has stopped puts you at increased risk though (and wouldn't worry about a bit of formula when DC was a few days old Smile ) Maybe take a test in a couple of weeks anyway just to reassure yourself Smile
