what should newborns wear at night?

So I know newborns should wear vest and sleep suit in day with possibly cardigan depending in temp. What about at night? Vest,sleep suit and blanket, or just sleep suit and blanket?

I always had mine in a vest, sleep suit and obviously their sleeping gro bag.

It's easy to make them too warm. At the moment our room is about 20 degrees and our 3week old is in just a sleepsuit and then swaddled in a large muslin or a blanket.

Ah yes,I suppose it depends on the temp of the room doesn't it? We live in a Victorian terrace and the bedrooms get quite cold at night but its still fairly warm at the moment. Baby is due in November so will prob be colder

It depends on the temperature of the room. Large Muslims are great when it's warmer for a covering or swaddle for baby. Get a thermometer and check the temp of the room a d then there are guidelines that you can search. I think the lullaby trust has one but I could be wrong. Also be careful with sleeping bags on a newborn, many of them have minimum weight requirements.

In November I'd use a sleeveless vest, sleepsuit and then tightly swaddle in a brushed cotton cot sized sheet unless your room is very warm.

i co sleep so just a vest or a babygrow for us.

I used to swear by those sort of nightshirt/bag things with a drawstring bottom that meant you didn't have to undo poppers in the middle if the night. They're quite hard to find but John Lewis is usually a good bet. I agree with how easy it is for teenies to overheat.

our ds wore vest sleepsuit and a layer or more of cellular blankets, gro bags when he was older, if you look at gro bag website they have a layers and temperature guide which helps depending on warmth, I would imagine sids website have one too.
