I've just found out that I'm pregnant with DC2. DS is almost 9 months and he'll be 17months when number 2 comes along. I've always wanted 2 close together, so I'm thrilled. I was an only child and I hated it, so I would really like a sibling for DS.

My wonderful OH is not so sure. He was also an only child and loved it. He Is also worried about the cost of having a second child, that we won't be able to afford anything for them if we have two. He suffers from anxiety and the birth is our DS really exacerbated it as I know he's worried about it happening again with this baby.

If really like him to see how wonderful having 2 could be, but at the moment he is only negative :(

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

What about childcare costs saved if there are any?

if he's anything like my chap he may just need a bit of time to absorb it and Work things out in his head b4 accepting and getting positive. Took my guy 10 weeks to resolve his issues-and a conversation I had with him saying please allow me to be happy about this Sad sending big hugs to u x

Thanks for your replies. We don't have any xhildcare costs at the moment. OH runs his own business (dog walking) so DS tags along for a reeds ya and the other days I work get split between grandparents when I'm at work. I had tog abc to work when DS was 6 moths as I didn't qualify for maternity pay. However this time I will get mat pay so I can take a year off work so I'll have another year with DS as well as being at home with DC2. I don't know whether I'll go back yet, but that doesn't make much difference to here and now.

Thanks dizhin. He was quite apprehensive about DS to start with and now he is such an amazing dad! I'll have to give him time to get used to it all.

I think his main worry is that it will make him ill again as he is just starting to get better from all of the anxiety problems he's been having.
