why so touchy?

I know we all get slightly more hormonal when pregnant(currently 34 weeks with my second)but I find some things women get the rage about so trivial and petty.
for example people who comment on bump size.
this really doesn't bother me.
just read about someone who has the hump because her mil has requested a copy of her scan photo and she thinks its a personal thing between her and her hubby.
id be more than happy to give grandparents a scan photo. that's their gc for petes sake!
I just cant understand how possessive people get over their children.
I would do anything to protect my children but think some people just treat them as possesions.
I see my children as things to love and nurture and share with the world.
my son is someone elses grandson or brother or nephew or friend not an object I own.
don't know why but this just irks me quite a bit.

It bugs me when people make comments about my body like "ooh getting bigger" and then they get all offended when I tell them I don't like that! They would never comment on a woman's body at other times so why am I public property now that I'm pregnant?

It's ingrained that big=bad, small=good when it comes to our bodies. I love when people comment on my "neat little bump" and can't help feeling a bit offended when people say I look big and ask if it's twins. So bizarre that I get both types of comment!

People have different tolerance levels for comments. Hormones also play a huge role too

I got really possessive towards the end of my pregnancy. It did feel a bit like the MIL thought that it was her baby. And i had a friend who used to rub my bump in a way that id have thought only the father should. I remember sitting in the pub and she rubbed my belly for so long that i had to move away, it made me feel quite sick in a creepy way.

I know what you mean though. Had a long conversation with a checkout lady yesterday regarding my bump and though it doesn't bother me in the slightest DH and I did chuckle that mumsnet would be up in arms if a checkout lady had dare mention their bump! I do think people should generally try to relax and be glad others, especially family, are happy and excited...trust me, they aren't always.

Cariad007 am totally with you! I have become huge quite early on and having people point it out all the time is definitely NOT helpful. Inner psycho bitch from hell has definitely been rearing her ugly head this week....

that's what I mean polka.
I generally think that when people say'have you got twins in there?'
they don't actually mean'you look like a fat bitch'
they are mostly are commenting on your bump.
bump touching never bothers me either.
I quite like others sharing such an amazing experience.
BUT I can understand not liking total randoms touching although its not something that has ever happened to me.

I keep getting told by everyone how small and neat my bump is. I'd take it as a compliment but its not is it? I'm 37 weeks and I should be huge. I know my baby is small which probably means I haven't eaten properly or enough to nourish her. I certainly didn't eat anything nourishing in the first 3 months due to morning sickness. In between I lost my appetite due to the hot weather. Now I'm trying to make up for it but already measuring 2 weeks small. So telling me my bump is tiny and neat isn't boosting my confidence. I'd rather be big and about to burst.

I was the same, Fake. On the plus side, less stretching of the skin has got to be a good thing.

Someone medical may correct me, but all I think you'll achieve by 'trying to make up for it' is to get a bit chubby yourself. The amount I ate, DD should've been rather larger than a shade under 7lbs

Just eat enough of the healthy stuff now, attend all your appointments and try not to worry.

Fake I'm nearly 38 weeks and everyone comments on how neat I am. Estimated weight of baby is about 8lbs so he's certainly not small!

Seems to be everyone has something to say!

If I told someone they had a neat bump I would certainly mean it as a compliment! Sadly all I've ever had is "oh it must be a big baby" because my bump is HUGE - people were assuming I didn't have long to go by about 25 weeks. I think people will always assume any comment about their pregnant body is a negative because it's such a sensitive time though.

I want my mum my partner and his mum with me during birth our mums have been to our 3d scan and got photos of all scans we have had! I know we all get grumpy but Jesus having a strop about that??? And at 6 months I have a big bump apparently but I'm happy people saying! It's a baby and you should be happy and proud! Glad I'm not moody or anything! Xx

Fakebook my bump is tiny (33w) and my baby is measuring bigger than average on growth scans. My last bump was tiny, ds2 was 8lb 3. The measurements mw's do are not accurate, please don't worry.

Thanks for the support everyone. I think I just make small babies too. I was huge with dd and she was 6lb12oz, I was small with DS and he was 6lbs2oz. I think I'm worried because they made me stay in hospital with DS as he was apparently underweight and it messed up my milk flow as they made me top up feeds with formula. I'm planning to discharge myself if they try to keep me in this time.

These last few weeks are the hardest I suppose! Everyone has something to say and it's hard to ignore when you've been hearing it from various different people for the past 6 months!

Fakebook I was just going to say that I would love people to tell me I had a big bump, currently 27 weeks and my friend who is 22 weeks is bigger than I am! For me though I think there's a bit more too it that just wanting a bump,I had a massive ovarian cyst removed a few years ago that was so big I guarantee baby bump will still be smaller at 9months than I was when the cyst was removed (it contained 18l of fluid!) and since then I've been really aware of my tummy getting bigger and associated with that as a bad thing so I want to get past the looking a bit fatter than normal and well and truly into the obviously pregnant stage!
