Low blood pressure and miserable

I am nearly 15 weeks pregnant now with my second child and have felt ill since about 8 weeks. I constantly feel nauseous (slightly helped by medication) and so exhausted I can barely function at home let alone work - I have been signed off for the last 7 weeks. I think the problem stems from my low blood pressure (80/40 at lowest) as I feel constantly dizzy too and am aware of my pulse in my neck quite often. I have seen my GP who says I am just one of those unlucky women who feel ill while they are pregnant and hopefully it will pass.
It isn't passing yet and I feel so miserable that at times I wish I hadn't got pregnant. I would love to go back to work because I really enjoy my job but some days I can barely leave the settee. Oh, and the ironic thing is, I'm a midwife!

Oh you poor thing!! It sounds miserable.

I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant and I have been signed off work for the last 6 weeks and can't go back for another 4 weeks at least. I'm driving myself mad with boredom!! I totally empathise with wanting to go back to work!! Plus you have a fantastic job! I always, always wanted to be a midwife but wasn't allowed to because of health reasons, it still makes me sad now Sad

I was at my worst between weeks 10-12 and I was thoroughly miserable. Sickness, diarrhoea, lethargy, high blood pressure, general illness etc - I was a mess. I spent half my time in a mangled heap on the bathroom floor just crying my eyes out. My husband had to keep coming in to pick me up and put me back into bed. I just felt awful and like you I was having regrets of getting pregnant - at the time all I could focus on was how utterly rubbish I felt and couldn't see an end in sight.

Thankfully though, it did pass and when I hit week 14 I seemed to return to my normal self and now I'm in the blossoming stage of pregnancy thankfully. I feel happy and healthy and excited about the baby Smile

I'm sorry you are feeling so shitty but it will pass - just be lazy, rest up and was for the good times to come. Congratulations on being pregnant Smile

Poor you Sad

I also have very low blood pressure and remember really struggling in the first 12 weeks due to that plus the sickness and tiredness Sad

I did feel better from about 14 weeks to 27 weeks but still had to be very careful about standing for too long. Unfortunately since 27 weeks I've been suffering more with the low bp again so I went on maternity leave early at 31 weeks (I'm a science teacher so was always on my feet and dashing about)

I'm now 34 weeks and although it's still low and a pain Ican control it better at home. I've found plenty of fluids, eating little and often and not standing for too long have helped.

Sorry I don't have much advice except be kind to yourself and I hope you start to feel better soon xx
