Yesterday I thought my waters broke, hospital thought otherwise! Anyway I have also been losingmy mucus plug, big bits to start with but after having an internal exam at the hospital I got some fresh bleeding with the mucus. This all started yesterday and I am still getting bloody bits breaking away. How long does this usually last for?

I called tbe midwife last night and they told me not to worry, however as this is my first, I am so scared about everything!

Sounds like your plug and bloody show. Lots of people report going into labour immediately, other people can take weeks. Keep in touch with the midwives if your worried about anything.

Sorry!

I bled a bit following an exam at 37+4 then lost the plug 2 days later (pretty much all at once in my case). There seems to be a range of ways this plays out for different women and different pregnancies. Don't worry, it sounds fine. I'm 39 weeks now with no clear sign of baby on the way (first one too).

Thank you for putting my mind as ease. I think what made me panic the most is that I am getting lots of pain period type pains, which I believe is also a sign of imoending labour...

Why can't it happen like it does on tv, would be so much less stressful!
