Sorry for tmi but I'm really badly constipated. Have got lactalose (sp?) and am working on my diet as it's been awful this time. So anyways, I'm in agony, it hurts to breath sometimes, if I cough it hurts, burps. In general if I move at all I'm in pain.
So I've started the lactalose this morning after quick discussion with doctor. It says it can take a few days to work and to take 15mls twice a day. This morning I took 20mls, would it be okay if I took a bit more than that as I really need this sorted?
I'm really not sure I can wait a few days.

Oh I'm 15+4

If anyone can help me quick I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

bumping for you, I would take a bit extra, but that's just me! hope you feel better soon, and drink plenty of water!!

Big bowl of tinned prunes from a late opening shop?

If you're in pain you should go back to your doctor and get something that will work faster, like a suppository. I had the same issue a few weeks ago but my GP was really great :)

I was where you were, in horrendous pain, walking round with a bag of diamond rocks in my abdomen and in agony when I sat down. And spending hours on the toilet with nothing coming out.

These days I have a Movicol sachet in the morning and the Lactulose at night, and I have softer BMs than I did pre-pregnancy!

I also think the six prunes I ate (along with the several bowls of All Bran) a few hours before I got rid of the initial blockage helped a bit too.

I have some suppositories to try if it gets bad again but it's been fine for 2-3 weeks now. Thankfully.

Weirdly I now look less pregnant (nearly 17 weeks) than I did at 10-13 weeks because I am no longer all blocked up! I have gone back to being able to hide my bump again!

I feel your pain, this was me three weeks ago.

I was SO grumpy and uncomfortable!

I ended up taking Laxido (8 sachets dissolved in a litre) to get rid of the initial...ahem, blockage (sorry tmi!) and then on to 4 sachets a day to keep things moving. Now its all settled down I'm on lactulose and fybogel...or at least I was until I got d&v bug. Now its not a problem! Oh the glamourous life of a pregnant lady!Wink Feel better soon and keep on at your GP. Thanks

Thanks everyone. I took an extra 10ml last night. I'm afraid to take loads extra.

Will drink loads extra today. I'm already starting to feel better. I think because of the constipation I've had a lot of trapped wind, which was causing most of the pain, however yesterday after first dose of lactalose I've felt some relief.

Thanks again everyone.

I feel your pain - I was suffering a few weeks ago. Not nice at all.
Prune juice should do the trick...just make sure you don't stray too far away from a loo after consumption. And drink lots of water daily to keep things softGrin

Water, prunes, warm baths and exercise will shift it.
