I am 6 weeks today. Nausea started last week.

However, I am never sick. I retch a few times and feel sick a LOT but nothing ever actually comes out of me.

Why? Confused and is it normal?

It's normal. There are different degrees of sickness.

TheMoonInJune · 16/10/2013 19:35

Thanks :) You read so much about constantly throwing up in pregnancy it comes as a surprise to get the nausea without the vomit!

Give it time - the vomit will soon come Smile

My nausea started at 7 weeks but I didn't actually start being sick until I was 10 weeks pregnant.

TobyLerone · 16/10/2013 20:11

Completely normal. I know of people who have been diagnosed with HG without actually throwing up.

I've been medicated for constant nausea twice in my pregnancies and not actually vomited. The retching still happens sometimes, sadly, at 28 weeks.

Not true winter

This is my second pregnancy and I have never vomited due to morning sickness. Didn't throw up at all during my first.

Although I did have a stomach bug which caused two days of D&V but that doesn't count.

I hope you don't be sick.

hettienne · 16/10/2013 20:28

First pregnancy I had nausea for months but no actual vomitting. Eased off about 16-18 weeks.

Second pregnancy I had a small amount of nausea and vomitting. Threw up a handful of times, felt ropey in the mornings, but only between 8-12 weeks.

BettyBi0 · 16/10/2013 20:33

I had the same around 6 weeks and then the sickness followed by 7 weeks. To be honest I think the nausea is the worse of the 2. At least when/if you are vomiting you get the satisfaction of a brief lull in the nausea.

You might find that fresh air, cold flat 7up and ready salted crisps helps to stimulate a bit of appetite if you feel so nauseous you can't eat/drink anything. It can become a bit of a vicious cycle making the nausea worse if you starve for too long.

Hope you feel better soon x

PinkParsnips · 16/10/2013 20:37

I was never sick, just mild nausea, which was very lucky so hopefully you might be the same and avoid it!

fluffacloud · 16/10/2013 20:42

Congratulations!

Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell though.

I had almost constant nausea from 8-20 weeks, which progressed to raging heart burn - but I found that eating was the only thing that helped. I ate non-stop and put on 3 stone but It was worth it and I'd lost most of it naturally within 6-9 months.

Mint tea was also a big help and contains no calories Grin

I had constant nausea in my first trimester, and would retch loads but was actually only sick once and I think that was because my body didn't like what I had eaten!

Julietee · 16/10/2013 21:38

nausea counts as ms :)

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 16/10/2013 21:40

I've had constant vile nausea through 1st trimester of 2 pregnancies, only ever vomited properly once.

TheMoonInJune · 17/10/2013 17:31

Thanks. Horrible, isn't it? Still, it will be worth it in the end ...

Try eating porridge. Oatssosimple worked for me. I had exactly the same, nausea but not actually being sick. It really helped. I have no idea how.

Smerlin · 17/10/2013 18:55

Be careful though- my m/s started like that and I ended up throwing up twice a day after another couple of weeks.

In some ways I preferred that though- actually being duck relieved the feeling of nausea a bit weirdly !

SaggyIsHavingAPinkKitten · 17/10/2013 23:03

Ive not been sick in 3 pgs. Seriously nauseous though. Sometimes yacking up would definitely be a blessing! Confused
