Tips for an energy boost in third trimester?

So I've been off work today (luckily yesterday was a rota off day anyway) as I've had a d&v bug and got sent home on Monday about an hour before my shift finished. Thankfully the symptoms seem to have stopped (been over 24 hours since any further, um, unpleasantness).

I'm supposed to be going back in tomorrow (ok-d by my GP) but my fatigue which was pretty bad due to low iron seems to have ramped right on up. I can barely lift my arms, have slept most of today (although in fairness had a terrible nights sleep), I woke up at 1pm intending to tidy the house which is a pig sty! I managed about 10 mins painting in the baby's room and intended to put some washing loads through and think about dinner, but even the thought of it is making me tired and I'm lay back on the bed. I tried lifting the half full washing basket and had to put it down as my arms started shaking!

I feel so useless, DP is full of cold at mo and still manages to cycle his 16 mile commute (there and back). I feel awful that in a whole day off I can't even get a room in the house straightened up or dinner done.

Does anyone have any tips for how I can up my energy levels to get a quick flurry of activity done before 6? snoozes whilst waiting for replies

I think things just take a lot more out of you when you are pregnant. I have had a couple of bugs and I just feel totally knackered. The only thing which has helped me is loads of sleep. Occasional swimming floating around in a pool has helped me a bit too. Hope you feel better by tomorrow and don't forget that you can take longer breaks if you need them a work.

Fruit is a good thing to give you a quick energy boost, and you won't get the mega sugar crash that comes from biscuits or anything with refined sugar. My go to at the moment is a banana, sorts my heartburn and gives me enough energy to make my next trip to the loo (bloody HG, SPD and insomnia make even blinking a saga!).

In the same boat. Currently sat on bed on MN replying to you whilst DH empties two rooms ready for carpet fitter!

I do as much as I can, then have rest for a bit. But to be honest even if I wasn't pregnant and had had that bug I would be wiped out, it's really nasty.

I think the best tip is that we need to admit a bit of defeat now and do as much as we can but make sure we rest.

Not long to go! X
