Numbers allowed at planned c section?

Ile be having a planned c section at 38/9 weeks this time on medical grounds.
My mum and partner have both been with me for previous 2 dcs births but they were natural.
This time i'd like them both to be there again but am thinking the hospital may say only 1 body in the room.
Anyone else allowed more than just 1 person in the operating theatre with them?

I don't think you can, sorry. I believe most, if not all, hospitals have a 1 person rule at CS.

Yes only 1 person in theatre, other person maybe allowed to wait in recovery though Smile

There are a lot of people in the room for a section so having even one spectator is a squeeze.

Good luck!

Oh dam, i know my mum will be dissapointed if she cant be there. Id like her there too as shes more practical and emotionally supportive than my dp, but as the father i think he has a vital role to play as well. Hopfully she can be in recovery like you say rainbow and be there soon after.
Thanks for the replies ladies

Hi I've just had my section today and only 1 person allowed in theatre and only same person allowed in recovery

Excited2meetmyprincess · 16/10/2013 23:17

I booked mine today and was told one person in the theatre and recovery and other person has to wait on ward until you come back or in the cafe. So I have my DH coming with me and then my mum will be there when I get back from recovery x

Thanks for replies. Looks like it will be just my dp in with me till i get to the ward :-$

It is worth checking, but normally only in very exceptional circumstances will they allow an extra person, if at all. Not just because you want your mum to be there IYSWIM.

I know someone who was allowed both her doula and her husband there. This was because her husband had certain mental issues which meant that, if they had to choose one person, it was going to be the doula. The consultant felt that the father should have the chance to see his son being born if he could cope and allowed the father to also go in when he made a last minute decision that he could cope with it.

We were only allowed one person even for natural births! I'm sure you'll see your mum very soon after, and there's probablyless she can do to help during a cs anyway. Good luck! X
