Anyone got any suggestions for a romantic(ish) non-drinking new years eve? i'll be about 28 weeks by then (yikes). I have thought about going away to watch some good fireworks, but don't wanna be standing around a lot! we usually go to a house party, but not sure if I can stand being around a lot of drunk people!! also want to do something special before we have babba, hence asking early!! any tips/advice would be welcome!!!

I'll be 39 weeks..if babs hasn't arrived by then I think I'll be wrapped up on the sofa scowling at jools holland.
Romantic getaway???

As long as you have a fairly "normal" healthy pregnancy with no mobility issues, you should be fine standing around etc at 28 weeks so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
But then again you have no idea how your pregnancy is going to progress and if you develop spd or pgp etc you won't be up for it!

I think a romantic getaway sounds a good idea!

I'm interested too! I'll be 24 weeks and in SW London!

We were just discussing this last night! We often stay in or go to the in laws or someone else's house on nye, in fact, I don't think me and DH have ever been 'out' on nye!

I'm quite keen to do something this year as next year there will be no choice but to stay in! We are going to go somewhere nice for an early tea/dinner, aiming to be home for 8/9 then stay in from there. I just want to have done something!

lolablu · 15/10/2013 18:18

I wouldn't do anything 'on' nye. prices are sky high and over inflated. take a nice weekend break the week after to welcome in the new year. cheaper, more personal and more romantic..

How ironic - me and hubby had a 5 day get-a-way booked in a lovely cottage in wales for New Years but we cancelled it because of the pregnancy. I will be 28 weeks as well actually Smile

We only cancelled it because I'm high risk pregnancy, under various specialists, have had a few complications etc and so the last place I want to be if something were to go wrong is in the middle of nowhere Smile

Me and hubby are gutted Sad

I foresee a night in front of the TV watching the fireworks and Big Ben Smile

I wouldn't do anything on NYE but I had an amazing trip to Bruges for christmas markets when I was v preg with my first.

Romily · 15/10/2013 18:59

We are going to have a nice meal and then a few friends round to ours to welcome in the bells. That way if I am too tired I can sneak off to bed.

MummyLuce · 15/10/2013 23:47

When I was preg with dd1 we went skiing in Norway!! I was only 16/17 weeks though, so not as big as you'll be. In the evening we had dinner and played board games with our friends, then did a firework display! Was v fun xxx

LateBear · 16/10/2013 09:50

I will either be 41 weeks or have a newborn baby! So best case scenario either way is Jools Holland on the sofa Grin

keepitgoing · 16/10/2013 11:20

At 28 weeks you'll most likely be fine to do anything! Not too big.

Geneticsbunny · 16/10/2013 20:57

Go to the house party. You can always sneak off home or to bed.
