Confused about dates EDD 1st Feb 2014

My EDD going by my scan is the 1st Feb which originally from my LMP was the 29th Jan. I'm just really confused as 2 weeks after the 27th of feb which is when the baby measures from is the 11th May. We did not have sex before or on this date. 11th may was our wedding day and we were both very drunk. I've read that dating scans are very accurate so wondering why my date's are off? Anyone else in this situation?

I think they base it on the date of your last period, not when the baby was actually conceived. Mine changed by a few days too.

The EDD is only rough anyway. They really have no clue when the baby will make an appearance. Hopefully within 2 weeks either side.

Scans can be off by +/- anything from a few days to a few weeks, depending on when your dating scan is done - around 11-13wks is most accurate, any earlier or later and the accuracy varies (for example, at my 20wk scan DS was measuring on screen as 23w, DD measured as exactly 20w and current pregnancy measured 19w - I was exactly 20w at all three scans).

My 12w scan for this pregnancy was at 11+5 by my dates, based on when DH and I had sex. They measured the baby as 12+3, putting me five days ahead. There is absolutely no possible way that I was 12+3. Due to work, sickness, sick DCs, nights out, and a bit more work DH and I only had sex once that month so the absolute maximum I could have been is 11+5. But the scan said 12+3, and that's what they class as the 'official' due date

My conception date is a couple of weeks out too, OP. I asked the sonographer to confirm at my 20wk scan and she just said it was two weeks late but "the dates don't change at this stage" Hmm

I had the same thing happen last week and was told by the sonographer I am a week further along that I thought, which didn't tally with my own tracking dates. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Its really annoying when something doesnt match your dates haha. Why do they insist that dating scans are most accurate? I had my 12 week scan and was dated 11weeks 3 days

Remember you don't necessarily conceive on the day you have sex (eg sperm could fertilise an egg that was released up to 5 days after having sex) and the process from fertilisation to full implantation can vary by quite a few days. These two
things explain most of the variances in dates

Yes but i had sex after my assumed ov date? We had sex on the 12th may but my husband didnt ejaculate. He said he did but i always feel it and never that time. Think he may have faked it as he was hungover haha

Agreed Merkin, but mine put me ahead and means I conceived without actually having sex :o
