I spoke to a doctor at a&e while I was pregnant, as I got a needlestick injury from an MRSA positive patient. He said the risk of catching it unless you have large open wounds is so minimal as to be negligable!

Worked with the elderly all during my last pregnancy. We knew that some were being discharged from hosipital with MRSA. Was worried sick all the time, spoke to my midwife and she said all ok unless you have open wounds and are in contact with them, ie touching the wounds I suppose. All was ok in the end.

Teabags MRSA is no risk to an unborn baby if you are and well. On the wards we don't have any special precautions for nurses who are preganant - they work with MRSA positive patients the same as everyone else.
