Convinced I have one I have IBS and currently god awful constipation. Tmi but st about 8pm I did a huge painful poo and felt it cutting. There was a little red blood on the tissue. My bum is still burning and just wiped again and there is still a little red blood. I feel like shattered glass is in my bum . Someone please reassure me, dp is out so just rang my mum in tears.

Fissures aren't usually as painful as you describe. If you've been constipated it may more likely be the dreaded haemorrhoids I'm afraid.

Hi tea (((hugs))) I've been in your shoes and know how stressful it is. Unlikely to be a fissure (except poss a vv tiny one) unless you've had bleeding for several days tbh. Get your self completely clean, put some zinc & castor oil cream on where its sore and find a way to relax.

I've had this and its always resolved after a day or two at most. Drink lots of water, to keep things soft the next few days. You could take a stool softener too and when you next go, do your best to relax, and - sorry tmi - visualise things opening nice and wide so no difficulty next time you have a poo. Also, when you have the next one, sit on loo with feet on a step (eg kids step) as this is a much better position for your bum. Yes I had a major fissure following 4th degree year at dd delivery. All better now but I am a font of useful info in this area

Do you have any treatment for the IBS? If it happens again then poss worth seeing GP.

yes bangers is correct re: poss of haemorrhoids. If these measures don't improve things after a couple of days then maybe worth getting checked out x

Mine was so painful the GP suggested I go in for an arse stretch. They can give you a stretch apparently and it cures it
I didnt do it
Took lactulose and used a lot of sudocrem and anusol
I did end up with a pile though- I call it DS's evil twin!
It does get better just get your poo soft and be kind to it

Btw pre-pregnancy I was on movicol for the IBS (I also had a 3a tear with dd and a shocking recovery). I've been advised not to take it but to have lactulose again which I don't think does much. Added to which the iron in pregnacare I don't suppose helps.

Anal fissures definite can be extremely painful, I can attest to that.

The only thing that reliably has helped mine heal is keeping stools very soft. I'm lucky for me that normally only involves benefiber (less rank than fybrogel). If the lactulose isn't cutting it and movicol normally works I'd go back to your GP.

I can see why your GP may have wanted you off movicol, as the NHS (as with most drugs) says its a risks/benefits thing (so not an outright no). However the data actually looks ok, see section 5.3 of this link....www.medicines.org.uk/emcmobile/medicine/1244/spc#PHARMACOLOGICAL_PROPS

At a normal dose I can't see it would be a problem - and googling shows that lots of pregnant women are given it. Your GP could always ring the obstetric consultants to get reassurance before recommending.

I agree with ladymedea. I've had a fissure that comes and goes for about 13 years now (fun) and yes,it can be very painful. To keep it at bay I keep everything soft with dulcoease and/or fybogel. If it's sore to go then popping some vaseline around your ring just before can help - mmy mum has recurring fissures and swears by this to ease pain. Unfortunately they're hereditary!!

If you do get piles too then I'd recommend Germaloids suppositories.

As you can probably tell I've had a long history of bummy problems so I really feel for you. Just don't worry, It's all very common. Maybe arrange to see you're gp? They can have a quick look to see what's going on. Take care xx

Tmi update..I did a pop this morning which was very sore over the cut but no blood. I'm going to really increase my bran and roughage intake!

I have had suspected fissures - again when I was super constipated. Similar to you, I wiped and there was a bit of blood. I should have gone to the Drs but never did. I now have two skin tags on my bum hole [blus] although they're pretty small.
