Heartburn/excessive stomach acid

Hi

Just wondering if anyone is suffering from heartburn and excessive stomach acid? My stomach is burning, it's so painful and nothing seems to be working (eg gaviscon, rennies, milk etc). Before pregnancy I suffered from this around 3 times a year and the only thing that worked was the medication that turned off stomach acid production. I def don't have ulcers as I've been tested but I suspect I suffer from acid reflux disease as I've had this on/off for 5 years.

Anyway I know preg can flare it up and I'm really worried this could last the whole 9months. Does anyone know if gp can prescribe something? I'm only 9.5wks, do I need to get to 2nd trimester before taking anything?

Any other natural tips I could try? I am desperate and spent whole wkend I'm bed in pain!

Hi
I have always suffered dreadful heartburn and always been on medications for it as I would have it daily, even before pregnancy, so as you can imagine pregnancy made it much much worse but yes there are medications you can get from GP whilst pregnant.
I am on them and they help but doesn't make it disappear but like I said I had it very bad before pregnancy (few times a year would be a dream lol)
good luck

Thanks all, think I will speak to my gp again although I suspect they will try and not put me on anything as I was told last time all I could take was gaviscon and rennies which do b*gger all lol.

Hope the rest of u aren't suffering too badly! So many thinks about pregnancy that no one tells u eh lol x

I just had a big bowl of lemon meringue pie with custard. Heart burn central!!! I just sleep sitting slightly up in bed and suck on acid tablets x

I drank the double action Gaviscon, the one in the pink bottle, like it was going out of fashion. Have you tried it? Way better than the regular one. Also ate bucket loads of rennies, ice cream and thick frijj milkshake. Try to sit upright as much as possible and avoid stuff like tomatoes which make it worse, make sure you're pooing enough as that can help, so stay hydrated!

Banana is meant to be a natural remedy and certainly helps me if its just mild heartburn.

I didn't realise there was double action gaviscon! Will get to the shops tomorrow and give that a bash. Think I might give ice cream a go too, any excuse ;)

That lemon meringue sounds amazing! Is anyone else finding the thought of food repulsive but as soon as u see someone eating something u want it instantly? It's so weird!! My life seems to currently revolve around food in both a good and bad way!
