Worried about length of baby.

Hi all, I had a scan on Friday and at 16 weeks the sonographer told me that baby was 10 cm long - which I thought nothing off at the time.

However, since that I keep finding things on the internet and in baby books that say at 16 weeks baby should be measuring up to 13cm Hmm I think 3cm shorter than expected is actually quite significant and it is making me worry a little.....

Can anyone offer any reassurance?

Sonographer probably told you the crown-rump measurement (accurately measured) and the book is quoting head to toe.

Oh brilliant!!! Smile

Such an obvious answer - makes perfect sense!!

Apparently he weight 5 ounces too - bless him!
No idea if this is 'normal' or not though.

Thanks for that Smile

Just went and analysed all the scan images she gave us and one of them it says L=13.6cm so I'm going to assume that's what he measures. Perhaps she measured his c-r lump and then his legs separately and then added them together.

I'm just relieved I've been fretting for no reason Smile

My friends keep telling me it's just the start of a whole life of worry along with happiness and love Smilexxx

Yes, it's good practice for when they're actually born.

Given how much DM worries about DB (28) I'd say it's only just starting...

If it's any consolation you only have4" weeks of worry once. If you have more children you are so worried about the ones you already have the bump doesn't get a second thought.

I had a 16 week scan also and was told c/r length was 10 5 cm so sounds right to me :-)
