I first got exczma when I was pregnant with my first child but it was never this bad. I can't manage to get any sleep at all as soon as I nod of I'm scratching and it wakes me bk up! Not only an I very very tired I can hardly see because my face has had a flare up and is very swallon! Anybody else having this problem? Or any advice? 19 weeks pregnant x

Aww no Sad I normally have eczema anyway but mine flares on my lower legs and feet.

I'm 33 weeks and had a flare up a few weeks ago which I think was caused by stress at work before I finished as it's settled down a bit now. I couldn't use the steroid cream I have as it's not suitable for pregnancy so that was a pain.

I found E45 itch relief cream quite helpful and you can buy it fairly reasonably at a pharmacy (make sure it's the itch relief one not just an ordinary one).

I have an intensive non perfumed moisturiser which I get on prescription which is good for keeping the skin from drying out so it may be worth asking your gp for something like this. I find shop bought moisturisers just don't work for me.

Try to avoid wearing make up as this can make it worse.

Also keeping the area cool or using something cold on it can help ease itching a bit. I was using a gel pack that you freeze and wrap in a thin clean cloth to help cool mine but anything from your freezer e.g. bags of peas would do the job. For night time you could set up a bowl of cold water with loads of ice in it and a flannel and use that to cool your face.

Hopefully some of these things might help but definitely see your GP if it's really bad.

Hope you get sorted soon xx

sorry but when this happened with me in 3 pg's I had to go the whole hog; fobbed off by GP, NHS referral they never came, private dermatologist, steroids or immuno-suppressants, don't put up with it. 'My' dermatologist is in the south east if that helps x
