DH's penis and my pregnant body...why is this happening?

Regular poster but have name changed as this thread isn't about me (well, sort of...).

My DH and I had sex this morning and afterwards the end of his foreskin was visibly swollen, red and tight, and he said that it was a little sore. It wasn't particularly rampant sex or anything, pretty standard for us IYSWIM.

He said this has happened before when we have had sex but only since I have been pregnant (I'm at the end of my first trimester and we have only had sex a couple of times due to bad MS). This doesn't happen when he masturbates, only sex.

There is absolutely no chance that either of us have any STIs, so I have no idea why this is happening. It hasn't ever happened to him before. We have agreed that if it happens again he will go to the GP, but I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced the same thing or similar with their partners. Is there a chance that my PH levels have changed which is irritating him?!

Hope this doesn't continue, not only because it's not nice for him but also as this is the first time that we don't have to worry about contraception so it would be a shame to wear condoms!

Thanks in advance for any advice ladies x

Trush potentially?

I have it a lot this pregnancy but I barely have any symptoms. I only know I have it when dp catches it off me. He tends to get quite symptomatic though so it's fairly obvious. Your dh may not show many signs of having it other than the initial inflammation. Best get it checked out

Could it be thrush?

acidfoof · 12/10/2013 09:33

Ooooh, I didn't even think of thrush. I've had slightly dodgy discharge (yellow etc - sorry for TMI!) but I know that type of thing can happen in pregnancy for no reason.

Thank you! x

I have no advice, just love love love ur name change Grin

Your discharge does increase during pregnancy but I have read it should be of a creamy White consistency. So if it's yellow would be worth checking out.

Sounds like he's got thrush from you.

Dh got it off my a few times during this pregnancy. Can't say it bothered me lol. I kind of felt like he was sharing the grief. :D

I had a chat with my midwife and she said it sounded like thrush. Popped out to buy some Canestan earlier! Thanks so much everyone, this is why I love mumsnet - people are so knowledgeable x

Might be worth using condoms for a while so you don't keep re infecting each other!

KatAndKit · 13/10/2013 12:45

Remember he needs to use the canesten too. Hopefully you will both be cleared up in a week. I agree with using condoms or abstaining until it is cleared
