Anyone else worried about taking the Flu Jab?

Hi,

I have been doing some research and according to a few sources - there is a concern over having the flu jab if it contains mercury based preservatives (Fluvirin or Thimerosal), as it has been known to link to autism in children and babies.

Has anyone been able to get mercury-free flu jabs from their GP?
Did anyone have luck in checking the contents of the jab before they took it?

Possibly I am the only one worrying here...

Here is one of the articles i read (not normally a daily mail reader):

Glad everyone is feeling well :)

My father is getting his jab next week so that he can be sure not to catch flu and be there to help me with his grandson!

Seems benefits outweigh risks- like with all vaccinations I suppose, even in late pregnancy. I'm getting it this afternoon. I remember I gave my neice her first cold. She was living with us at the time, and as hard as I tried, I couldn't resist a cuddle. Would hate to be in a position where It's the flu I am at risk of passing on to husband and baby. Thanks excited.

katebakes your dad sounds great. we insisted our family all got the jab when we had a newborn so they didn't put her at risk. some took quite a bit of persuading though.

I've had both the WC and flu vacine in the last few weeks. No side effects to me and baby still wriggling around so all seems well in there too! I'm almost 31 weeks pg.

Flu kills every year. Can't remember the stats but vulnerable people (like pg women and newborn babies) are most at risk. I believe the baby gets some immunity from me for the flu jab and definately for the WC jab. So me not having either would leave baby at a higher risk. Not something I am willing to do. I have classes these vacs as the same priority as the 8 weeks vacs baby will have. I wouldnt decline those so won't decline these!
