Belly button envy

Ok so I'm 36 weeks tomorrow. Have a HUGE bump (I get the 'twins' comments daily) and my belly button still hasn't popped.

I feel like a failure as a pregnant lady lol.

Why is this? My midwife says I have really strong stomach muscles, could that be it?

Anyone else an inny this far along? I was looking forward to giving it a good clean!

While we're on the subject of belly buttons.... can you choose what type of belly button your LO has by asking MW to clamp it in a certain way? My sister's DP thinks so, as he says this is why he and his bro both have shallow inny buttons. I think this is bunkum......

Bunnylion · 09/10/2013 12:32

monkey agreed - total bunkum.

What's not wise? Whipped cream in a can? No of course it's not but it's yummy and in could get high!

(Obviously a joke before anyone takes it wrong).

My midwife has checked lots and says he's loa (then roa, loa, roa) all in the course of one check. He flips around LOTS so hopefully he's not doing that dreadful back thing. I'll get dh to have a word with him when he's in from work. Usually does the trick.

Monkey, I know someone who actually asked their midwife to make sure they tied their babies belly button in as an innie, midwife nearly fell down laughing! It's definitely a myth!

mistyshouse · 09/10/2013 14:04

oh you are lucky! mine didn't pop out with dc1 it just went flat! but with dc2 it popped out and i hated the look of it, thought it looked horrible, now 13 weeks pg with dc3 and have been considering taping it down when it pops lol :o

Fakebook · 09/10/2013 15:00

Mine almost popped the first time, not the second time and has almost popped again. I'm just thinking girls make my belly button almost pop and boys don't! Grin

TobyLerone · 09/10/2013 15:26

Mine never popped out with either of my last 2 pregnancies. And neither was back to back.

This time, though, I fear it might. I'm 27 weeks and it's very flat.

katebakes · 10/10/2013 00:09

Oh lady you can have mine! Hahahahah.

I am literally in the same boat as 42andcounting

JoJoManon · 10/10/2013 10:46

Mine has gotten less deep but still not popped and I'm 33 weeks. My OH said it looks like an anus. Men, eh!

BummyMummy77 · 10/10/2013 14:22

Whipped cream in a can isn't wise or gas isn't wise? Either would help lol.

I can feel where his back is now so he's loa which is comforting. For now mind you, he swapped 3 times last night. 36 weeks must be about the time the little buggers stop moving around so much?!

Lol at it looking like an anus. I got DH to spend 10 minutes looking at my arse crack for the 'purple line' last night. He thinks I'm making it up!

Mine has never popped. It's really deep just like my dads and I hate it. It's like a crater!! You can actually see it through my clothes when I'm pregnant.

MummyPig24 · 10/10/2013 16:12

Oh and neither of my previous babies have been back to back.
