Skin troubles in early pregnancy

Just throwing a question out there for folks - anyone had any trouble with their skin?

Mine has been horrendous for the past few months, like breaking out and itchy and sore! Nothing I put on seems to work at all - I look like a teenager again :(

I'm hoping it clears up because I certainly don't look glowing. More pale, greasy and spotty at the moment haha

hey i am 4+5 and my skin is awful!!!! Nothing is clearing it up! Got some vitamins today so hoping that may do something!
Its embarrasing that ive suddenly broke out in all these spots and cant explain why! haha

Haha agreed, very frustrating. Obvious too, as I never have had bad skin just the occasional spot around my period.

I'm wondering when they clear up because I'm between 6-8 weeks (guesstimating 7 at this stage)

When I had my DS they continued the whole pregnancy and a few months after, sorry!!

I'm 19 weeks now with DD, and haven't had them anywhere near as badly, pretty much clear skin from 12 weeks onwards, and only a few prior to this.

I've also never had spots even as a teenager, was a shock to my system to suffer with them!

I've had spots throughout this pregnancy, despite having none with my first and completely clear skin throughout my teenage years.

They've started to clear up now at 39 weeks, but I think that's more because I've stopped wearing make up.

I've used The Body Shop's tea tree range throughout which has helped.

Gotta love them hormones!

Hiya, I've had mild adult acne since the age of 24 (I'm 28 now). All was fine until 6-7 weeks pregnant and then my skin exploded! Starting to calm down now at 11 weeks. Hot cloth cleansing method and an oil free moisturiser help IMO.

Good luck! xxx

Hey!!! I exfoliated last night and put some "Quinoderm" on them before i went to bed. Woke up this morning with much clearer skin. I got it over the counter at the Pharmacy and it was only about £2.50 :) Just hope it keeps them away :)

I normally have pretty bad skin (extremely oily and adult acne) but it's thankfully relatively ok so far. I'm only 6+3 so there's plenty of time for things to change though! I manage my usual skin issues with Clarins products designed for oily skin, they really have helped and I'd definitely recommend them. I'd ideally like to cut down on the make up but I currently resemble a walking corpse due to extreme exhaustion / pregnancy insomnia / baby draining all my goodness, so I need to keep up the morning make up ritual at least for the moment!

Never had spots. My forehead. Legs. Belly under my bump has broke out. Dont mind the face and legs but the ones under my bump are as sore. They start as spots and before long have broke out into a sore:-( Hopefully they disappear as im scarred now.

Just wanted to give some hope! I had terrible skin in early pg, both times, and other than slathering on sudocreme nothing much helped. Am now 17wk and more or less clear faced/bellied.

PinkParsnips · 10/10/2013 10:42

I've gone the other way!
I have mild rosacea and in early pregnancy my skin was amazing! Such an improvement. but now I'm nearly 36 weeks I'm breaking out in 1 or 2 new spots every day... I haven't had a proper spot like this since I was a teenager!

Lostinspace1 · 10/10/2013 14:28

In the 1st trimester I had itchy, spotty skin. Now in the 2nd it's completely cleared up and I haven't had such clear, soft skin for years! Yey for pregnancy!

B1985 · 10/10/2013 15:30

Hi all,

Thats how i kind of guessed i am preggers cos i dont really ever get spotty and all of sudden was horrendous!!

I am 8 weeks tomorrow and skins cleared up loads! I am just extremley tired and was so sicky/bad nausea but again that seems to warn off just real tired and lower back pain off cramps in stomach (assuming stretching) oh and i pee for queen and country! lol

I had a m/c last year at 10 wks there was no baby in sac.......so i was anxious this time round.........we paid for a private scan and (i thought i was 7 weeks) but scan pushed me back to 6 weeks 1 day so saw little broadbean and flicker heartbeat, all looked ehalthy so im quite relaxed now.

but gotta say i am STILL waiting for my refferal letter from NHS for booking in app and 12 weeks scan...when do they usually send it? I want a date to look forward to!

COngrats girls xx the spots will be worth it xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
