5ft 9 and was about 12 stone

weigh 9 and a half ish normally

I think average is about 3 stone but it is not a time to be weighing yourself imo.

xx

LucyJones · 29/06/2006 15:50

thanks Oliveoil! I know I shouldn't worry but people keep telling me how big I am which is making me very paranoid! I started off at 10 stone so I guess 13 stone is probably feasible then - arrgghh!!

People will say you are big, it is a law of pregnancy to say you are big or do you know what you are having or got any names yet etc etc

purplemonkeydishwasher · 29/06/2006 15:57

for some reason people love to tell pregnant women that they are huge. you're fine!!
just enjoy not having to worry about your figure for a while!!

LucyJones · 29/06/2006 15:58

I think it's because I've had issues around this in the past and I'm freaking out at how much I'll have to lose afterwards.

I wouldn't worry. I'm only 5ft3 and ended up weighing over 11 stone . Now finally lost all the pregnancy weight (two close together) and more and down to under 9 stone yippeeee. All the running around behind my two ds's. I was definitely a little round balloon, but I loved being pregnant and didn't worry one minute about the weight I put on and neither did my midwives. As long as your healthy that's the main thing isn't it.

schneebly · 29/06/2006 16:01

I am 5ft 5 and weighed 16 stone before I got pregnant - 15 stone 10lbs at 39 weeks and 14 stone 2 weeks after DS (8lb 1oz)was born! I am a freak though! 12 stone is not that bad!

I have to hasten that I was eating well the whole time but craved healthy foods and didn't eat junk or drink and think that was why I lost it.

kayleigh81 · 29/06/2006 16:04

im 5ft4 and before i was pregnant i was 9st5. Was never weighed throught pregnancy until day i got induced and weighed 10st8 so only put on just over a stone. I think it depends on your body really but i wouldnt worry about it and would enjoy not having to worry about counting calories for a while

sweetkitty · 29/06/2006 16:28

DD1 weighed 10stone pre-preg, was 12 stone at 37 weeks, I'm 5'4"

DD2 (9 months after DD1 was born) was 9 stone pre-preg, was 12 stone at 41 weeks.

DD2 is 23 weeks and I'm about 8 stone 9lbs.

Seriously do not worry about your weight it's the one time you can relax and eat what you want, sit back and enjoy your pregnancy.

mawbroon · 29/06/2006 16:33

I am 5' 2".
Was 9 and half stones pre pg
Was 12 and half stones by end of pg
Have just lost the weight now and am back to 9 and half stones after 8 months of bf.

Mercy · 29/06/2006 16:35

I am 5ft 3 and put on just over 2 stone with dd, and just over 1 stone with ds.

ds was the bigger baby!

I think as long as you eat sensibly it doesn't matter how much you put on (unless it really is excessive)

beansontoast · 29/06/2006 16:36

oh lucyjones...try try try not to worry sweety...[thats if you are worried of course??]as long as you are healthy it doesnt matter at this stage how much you put on...toward sthe end it all goes in/on the bump anyway

friends of mine put on between one and five stones in their pregnancies....adn the amount they put on didnt reflect who lost it first either!

i carry just like my mum did...and put on three stone...steadliy all the way through....mostly, it has to be said on my bum !

CarolinaMoose · 29/06/2006 16:42

jeez, you are skinny OO

I am 5ft 9 and normally 11 stonish but was a whale-like 16st by 40w with ds .

beansontoast · 29/06/2006 16:47

lucyj,

you will do the MOST ALMIGHTY wee-wee sometime after your baby is born....[not quite as satisfying if your are catheterised]

...that wee alone must be half a stone...god! i was like a horse wazzing in a bucket

melsy · 29/06/2006 17:10

Me 5ft 2
dd 1 was 9st 2 to start and I got to 12st+ at the end , may be more , as was wearing size 16 maternity. I also ate ridic amount of food every day.
lo2 started at 7st 12 , Im 10st and have 5 weeks left. Im wearing 10-12 maternity this time.

Remember our blood levels increase by 50% , fluid round baby must weigh some ,placenta , add that to the baby's weight and thats quite alot of increase alone, withought weight gain from food etc.

milward · 29/06/2006 17:13

5ft 8 -with ds4 started out at 58kilos was 63 kilos at 6 weeks! & ended up at 89 kilos at the end!!! was big. Lost lots of weight through just giving birth & then by bf - still have a bit to go but will just let it be. Had low thyroid probs in preg at about 32 weeks.

LucyJones · 29/06/2006 18:05

thanks for the reassurance everyone I feel silly for worrying but it is preying on my mind. Wish I could just relax and enjoy being pregnant but it ain't happening!!

FrannyandZooey · 29/06/2006 18:12

I was 5 ft 9, 13 stone 4

Can't quite believe that now, but I was.

It's all gone now.

teabags · 29/06/2006 18:14

5ft 7......normally around 10st, weighed 12.5 st by the end of my pregnancy

I do think if you are putting on 'good' weight ie eating healthily it drops off quicker. Well it did for me. I was 10.5 st 6 weeks post birth without any dieting.

Don't think it'll happen 2nd time around as I just want to eat junk with this pregnancy!

LucyJones · 29/06/2006 18:16

I can sympathise with you there Teabags - I have felt ill through most of this pregnancy so have eaten a lot of junk and stodge. Oops

I read somewhere that people who are slim to start with usually put on more weight than people who are a bit overweight to start with (as I was!). But they usually lose it afterwards.

I'm 5' 5", 39 weeks and am 13 stone 6 - started out at 11 stone 7 but lost 3 pounds initially due to general pukiness!

IMHO pregnancy is an excellent excuse to eat tons of chocolate in lieu of all the other things you aren't supposed to eat/drink.

I'm liking the sound of the passing half a stone of wee....

flibertygibbet · 29/06/2006 19:24

It's a really good question to ask actually as everything you read in books etc says 1-2stone but there's a huge variation in real life.

I'm 5ft6' and weighed 12 stone when I got pregnant. I stopped weighing myself after 8 months as I'd gained 4 stone and it was scaring me (midwives didn't bat an eyelid!)

I have a 20 month DD now and I'm still carrying 1 1/2 stone of it. I won't be losing it anytime soon as I'm pregnant again. I'm seriously hoping I don't put that much on again but it's not worth working yourself up over.

I foolishly asked how much everyone had put on at babygroup and they all said 1 or 2 stone. One was already a stone lighter than when she got pregnant! (the elusive successful breastfeeder). They asked me how much and I said 4 stone. It was the longest silence I've endured in quite some time

Lact8 · 29/06/2006 19:34

I'm 5ft10 and weighed 13 and half stone at the end of pregnancy!

But when my waters broke it was like a tidal wave, splashed the mw in the face so I think a lot of it was water.

DD was 9lb 2oz so she counted for a fair bit of it too.

I'm just under 11 stone now

Coolmama · 29/06/2006 19:43

I am just under 6ft- weighed about 9st5 when I fell pregnant and put on about 30 or 32 pounds - can't remember exactly - If anybody tells you that you are big, just tell them you are 16 weeks and expecting sextuplets or puppies or something

maewest · 29/06/2006 20:37

I'm 5ft 9 and 35 wks pg, think I weight about 12.5 stone, which is just over a stone heavier than my normal weight. Have dodgy bathroom scales hence not sure My mw has never weighed me, just asked pre-pg weight at booking appt and left it at that. My eating habits haven't really changed in pregnancy (except right at the beginning when I was combatting nausea with whole packets of hot cross buns!)
