Hi all,

I'm 37+1 and have just been to the toilet with some loose bowel movement (have been having a huge increase in bowel movement for about a week)

I have been having an increase in discharge for a few days, but very normal discharge.

However, upon wiping just now, on the tissue there was a huge blob of what I can only describe as snot. Very stringy like but thick and slightly yellowish.

Is this my mucus plug?

Sounds like it and don't panic if more bits come out as often it won't be complete and can take a few days

princesscupcakemummyb · 07/10/2013 16:04

Ooooh, exciting! Keep us updated.

And everybody, there is no such thing as TMI on the pregnancy boards Grin

plentyofsoap · 07/10/2013 16:57

Sounds like the plug Smile

Xenadog · 07/10/2013 17:43

Can I ask a stupid question? Why is it called "having a show"when the plug comes away? It sounds like a man in top hat and tails doing a tap dance!

Btw ladies I've heard that loose bowels can be a precursor for labour so things might be on the move!

AppleCrumples · 07/10/2013 17:49

I had this at 36+6 dd2 arrived 12 hours later :)

Hth

And good luck!!

Lj8893 · 07/10/2013 18:01

I've had a bit more since so I'm pretty certain its my plug starting to come away! It's not bloody though, does that mean anything?

I shall keep MN updated Grin

Lj8893 · 08/10/2013 15:13

Sounds like yours is coming soon!! Exciting!

Nothing much for me, a bit more mucus but still not bloody and my back is sore, BH have been alot more uncomfortable so they may be the real thing but nothing to get too excited about just yet!

I'm off to the doctors to get my whooping cough jab so maybe the walk will set something off!

I had the huge blobs of vag snot for about a week before I went into labour. My bloody show didn't happen til I was in full blown pushing mode and my waters didn't break at all (midwife had to pop them in the end).

Lj8893 · 08/10/2013 15:26

ladyflumpalot vag snot, thats brilliant!!

Oooo a week sounds good to me!!

Watching as in same position, lots of tummy cramps too. Am 37 plus 5 today (had already had DS1 by this point) and am wondering to phone DH working in Wales (I am in Reading) to come home or not?

Lj8893 · 08/10/2013 16:12

Sounds like you could be in the early stages candr espessially if its your 2nd, could happen alot more quickly.

candr · 08/10/2013 16:15

I know, they are predicting 2 hour labour (DS1 was 4 hours) and do not want DH to miss it but can not keep calling him away from work (self employed) and getting parents to drive 3 hours to look after DS1. How are things with you at the moment?

Lj8893 · 08/10/2013 16:18

Ah it's a difficult one (I'm lucky as dp works next door to our flat!)
Maybe ring him and see what he thinks to do?

Well I've been to the doctors surgery and back and it was pretty uneventful! Got another walk to antenatal class this evening though.

Since I told dp I've lost my mucus plug, he's unsurprisingly gone off sex so can't try that trick!

lj I'm pretty much in same position, had exactly as you did about a week ago and since then had more and more frequent discharge (same consistency but clear/cream mainly). Midwife checked and apparently am also 3/5ths engaged, but no one seems to think these mean labour imminent - just soon. Every little sign is exciting! Back pain and period style pain too so far

PinkApple86 · 08/10/2013 18:22

I started losing my mucus plug on my due date after a sweep but still went to 40+12. It came away gradually daily. Just make sure your bags packed.
