Clear blue confusion

I think I know what people will say but in need of reassurance or advice. Found out I was pregnant with dc2 the day my period was due a couple of weeks ago. Clearblue was 1-2 which fitted perfectly withy dates. As a natural born worrier I thought I'd reassure myself by repeating the clearblue tests periodically. Last week at 5 and a half weeks pregnant it showed 2-3 - again bang on. Just done one this morning at 6 and a half weeks and it still showed 2-3 when it should be showing 3+ by now. Am I worrying unecessarily or with reason? I've already convinced myself levels are dropping as something is wrong. Plus been getting mild cramps on and off - although fairly sure I had those last time.

Mine never changed for weeks with clear blue. I think I took about 6 tests in total!! So your not the only one. But I'm now 33 weeks and doing well so try not to worry. Have u booked your docs appointment? They may do another test, if not try a different type if it will help you relax!!
Congrats xxx

Thanks :) I saw the midwife last week who said to call with any problems so if I'm still worried I'll do that tomorrow. Just panicked as until now they had been right on track! I thought with a 2nd pregnancy I'd be more relaxed!

the only issue with these tests is we all produce a diff amount of the hcg horemone so their not great to rely on dont panic your self op im sure everythings perfectly fine in their i dont think we ever relax weather its baby number one 2 or 3 im expecting dc3 and still worried myself silly in the early weeks Flowers

congrats x

I had a similar thing, CB digi showed 2-3 when I was 4+1, and the same again when I was 5+1. So I panicked, went out an bought another lot and it had gone up to 3+ when I tested again at 5+6.

If you look at the small print it says it is only 92% accurate for detecting when you conceived. In other words, about 1 in 10 tests are wrong. So try not to panic too much (I know it is hard though!)

The cynic in me thinks it is just a ploy to get us to fork out another tenner Hmm

Don't worry, I had the exact same thing, but then I sat down and calculated it out and it reassured me.

The thresholds for CBD are:
1-2: 25-200miu hcg
2-3: 200-2000miu hcg
3+: over 2000miu hcg

A normal doubling rate for hcg is every 48 to 72 hours (2-3 days).

To give you an example, here's how I worked out my levels.

At 12dpo it was 1-2, and at both 18 and 22dpo it read 2-3. At 12dpo my FR test was very faint, but my levels were likely very close to the minimum of 25miu. For that to reach 2-3 wks by 18dpo my rate of increase must be 48hrs, which would put my levels around 200miu by 18dpo, then still just 800 by 22dpo. I should be able to get 3+ tomorrow at 25dpo at the earliest.
