Hello ladies. I'm 5+6 according to scan dates. I started bleeding brown blood lightly on Wed. I was referred to the EPU where they scanned me and found one baby with a heartbeat and what appears to be an empty sac. They said there might be a twin developing in there. Now the bleeding is heavier, like a light period, I have no pains and the EPU say they won't scan again for until two weeks have gone by. Has anyone else experienced this and had a happy outcome?

Hi one funky,

I had 2 episodes of light brown bleeding, one at 7 weeks and one at 10 weeks and thankfully the scans I had showed a healthy baby.

It must be frustrating for you knowing that you won't be scanned for 2 weeks but take reassurance from the fact that you aren't having any pains and the blood is old/brown blood. I have rang my EPAU many times over the last few months and they always told me not to worry unless I started getting pains or the blood loss became fresh.

funky I had brown blood at 5 weeks was scanned on tues and everything was fine. Nurse was very reassuring that this often happens and everything is usually ok. Totally understand why you're worrying though but try not to panic. At least your epu will scan you again soon to put your mind at rest

I had this about once a month until around 5 months pregnant. My happy outcome turns 2 on Weds. Smile

I was told that although it was not 'normal' it certainly wasn't uncommon. They sent me for scans most times that it happened but said they were only doing so to put my mind at rest as the worrying was more concerning than the bleeding.

Try not to worry.
