I am 20 weeks, and my bump is much firmer and rounder on the right side. I'm assuming that's the head but not sure if that is normal. Any advice please????

I would imagine it is the whole baby, but someone who knows more might answer soon. I know that my baby prefers the right side of the bump and I can see that side is slightly raised compared to the other side!

All my babies have done this. This one in particular, it really pushes itself up on my left hand side.

oohdaddypig · 04/10/2013 20:29

I had this because baby was on that side of bump at the time! if you push firmly, can feel their little backs. You will find as s/he moves, the other side firms up!

I used to be able to watch the bump literally change shape before my eyes when lying flat.

Totally normal :)

Another rightie. My MW says this is totally normal. I was also worrying!

Thank you so much, I am reassured. It was my husband that made me think it might be abnormal so I wasn't too worried. Hasn't moved to the other side yet, but I can feel a hb so I'm sure it's all fine.

I can only add not to worry because it's a person you've got in there, not a beach ball Wink

I have a severely bicornuate uterus (I essentially have 2 joined at a single cervix) and both babies (32 weeks with DS2 now) have grown in the right side, I'm comically lopsided!

Sadie204 · 06/10/2013 12:54

With DD1 I had a lovely round, albeit huge bump lol. With DD2 and DS I seemed to 'lean' to the right hand side. Am now 22wks with DD3 and am starting to look more uneven again. Baby is laying across my tummy with her bum that side so it definitely isn't just where her head is. I think my womb must be naturally uneven or it has stretched more to the right lol! Grin

I had this with ds2. He was way over to the right side and even now 3ish years later I notice that side of my stomach is larger, more stretched

I wonder if it is anything to do with where the placenta is??? I have my 20wk scan tomorrow which I guess will reveal all. Excited to see baby again Grin

My bump was always on the right! In the last couple of weeks, since I've felt him moving around more, he's all over the place Smile

Mine is the same, and now the head is engaged it seems to have its bum wedged under my right ribs. My belly button varies between one and three inches off centre Smile

FraggleRock77 · 07/10/2013 22:49

Our little boy favours the right side too. I like it as i alway know where he is Smilexxx

CrispyFB · 07/10/2013 23:10

Yep, mine has been noticeably to the left since the beginning. I think I am laid out funny in there. With my other three I'm sure they were more central, although thinking back on it I think my third was a bit wonky as well!
