So I'm in week 7 -1st pregnancy and very very excited, but im so so so so sosososososo sick.
I have been a little nauseous since day 1 (went into the canteen in work a couple of days after we started trying and the smell sent me running).
That would have been fine but the last 2 weeks it has gotten really bad - no vomiting and i'm eating and drinking lots of boring stuff but also dizzy and totally wrecked - feels like the worst hangover ever - except I cant just wait for tomorrow. I'm completely non-functional and its 24-7.

I've had to take 2 days off work as I couldn't get out of bed - blamed a tummy bug which explained my greenish hue for the rest of the week but will not work if this continues and I really don't want to have to tell them this early.
I'm doing all the bland small meals, sea sick bands, ginger, mint etc.
I've tried with the multi-vitamins and without. With pro-biotics and without.

ANY advice would be appropriated or if anyone else is feeling the same.
Maybe I just really need a moan :(
I know I should just be happy but this is just totally taking over.

Morning sickness is SO grim.

I could only tolerate white food. White toast, baked potatoes with cheese etc. eating little and often, every couple of hours.

Perhaps it's twins?

Congratulations! It will pass but will be a hard few weeks.

I'm afraid to say there's not much else you can do. If you can't manage at work see the doctor and see if they can sign you off for a bit/give you some medication. I had extreme nausea from week 5 - 16 it really is the worst feeling isn't it? You will get used to it and develop your own coping mechanisms but it will likely be a while before it gets any better Sad wishing you lots of luck and non-pukiness!

Thanks for the replies - It really helps -
Im finding the not telling friends really hard when im feeling so crap. Hubby is being very good, but he tends to try and fix it which can be exhausting (usually means constantly telling me im not eating enough even though I'm eating constantly - the number of portions don't seem to count to him - only the size - though to be fair he really just doesn't know what else to do)

I was nauseous from 6-11 weeks and smells got to me too.. Jacket potatoes, toast, bagels and salt n vinegar crisps got me through.. I had 2 days off work and was worried i'd have to tell work early but managed to eat little and often, get through til lunch, get some fresh air then ate little and often again.. It got better and didn't tell work til 22 weeks. 28+1 now :)

Op congratulations! on your news and just to let you know I'm exactly the same stage as yourself and feeling your 'grimness' 24/7 nausea hangover stylie and sickness....have been to Drs today as can't keep anything down now....he has written a prescription which I havnt yet got but will so if doesn't improve. I had my dd 3 years ago and was just the same.....off to bed ASAP as the only time it goes is when sleeping! Hope you feeling better soon and good luck x

Really feel for you, I'm 34 weeks now and still remember that feeling as though it was yesterday. All you can do is take it day by day and try to keep eating - whatever you can keep down, doesn't matter how unhealthy it is, you can catch up with vegetables later on. Sickness definitely gets worse if your tummy is empty and then it's even harder to eat leading to a downward spiral. Just keep remembering that it WILL end at some point!

Sarahmains40 · 04/10/2013 19:18

OP you have my sympathy I got sickness week 5 I'm 12 weeks now and I honestly don't know how I've got threw theses weeks, I'm just hoping it will pass soon. Sip water to keep hydrated and eat what you fancy if it gets too bad go to docs, I got dehydrated and was poorly. I was given some tablets cyclizine and it hasn't stopped sickness and nausea but it's eased it off a little, past 8 or 9 weeks have been hell all I do is go to work and go home. Too scared to go out any were in case I'm sick. And just feel all round poo.

Rest as much as you can hope you feel better soon and congratulations

Saying you're really hungover is always a good way of masking the pregnancy symptoms with friends. Obviously not at work every day tho!

I had acupuncture on my 4th child which helped a great deal. Wish I'd had it on the first 3!! Most clinics now have a acupuncture midwife. I know how you feel.

Iwaswatchingthat · 04/10/2013 21:46

Ginger sweets really helped me. As did hula hoops. General bland stuff and sleep!

I was not sick, but the nausea was awful.

Hope you feel better soon.

Grannylipstick · 04/10/2013 21:55

Definitely agree with the sleep. If its your first child this is easier. Much harder when you have other children to look after.
