today I had a message on the phone from the hospital asking me to go for a scan on monday as my bloods taken after my 12 week scan on tuesday was abnormal they didnt give anymore information just to call someone in the morning who will explain everything. so now im paranoid that something is really wrong as ive had some bleeding at 11 weeks and quite a bit of pain. can this be something really simple and im just worrying about nothing? has anyone been recalled for a scan just 2 days after their scan? im now 13+1

thanks for reading hope someone can give me some reassurance

Yes, I got a phone call the day after my bloods inviting me to an emergency scan to check on baby. Spent the entire weekend panicking and getting in a right tizz about it as they'd given me no reason just elevated levels showing up on the tests.
Luckily the scan went perfectly, baby was absolutely fine. They took some more bloods from me to test different things, and found out I have liver disease! Confirmed by a liver scan a week later. But that was fine too as with a controlled diet I've got it mostly sorted, just something they want to keep an eye on once baby is here.
So, try not to worry, it could be nothing. Look on the bright side, at least we have a health service that functions well enough to make quick appointments for important things and looks after us pretty darn well. You'll be able to ask the person doing the scan about what they're checking for whilst you're there. Best of luck.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and baby that all is well, I remember the horrible time between getting the call and getting in for a scan and more tests.
Whatever the outcome there is lots of support to be had on here, from health professionals at your hospital, and hopefully your family and friends.
I also hope your hyperemesis calms down soon, I was hospitalised 3 times in the first trimester with it and have been off work ever since. I feel much better now and with only 8 weeks to go before meeting baby it's all starting to feel much mie worth it.
If you need to talk anything over just drop me a message.

Do you mean your Beta HCG was really high? Mine was with DD2. I'll talk you through it if so...

CrispyFB · 15/10/2013 22:38

There's often a link between high bHCG and hyperemesis. Mine was 5.43MoM this time around at NT screening (am nearly 17 weeks now) and I felt a lot more sick this pregnancy than on previous ones, although thankfully not the horrific HG. I had Harmony done privately so I know baby does not have Down Syndrome, but I will need a growth scan at 28 weeks or so as high bHCG can, in rare circumstances, indicate a problem with the placenta.

Hope all is okay with you!

Longtalljosie - how high was yours? Interested to hear about your experiences! I had crazy low PAPP-A last time (0.23MoM) and ended up with a normal sized baby after my previous two had been huge, quite probably again due to placental issues!

Longtalljosie · 17/10/2013 09:59

Sorry, I can't remember the exact figure. But it is linked to a slightly smaller baby. My consultant said there was speculation it could be the placenta's function, another possibility was the pregnancy started with twins and you have the HCG level of twins, but only one baby. He said he'd bet the mortgage my baby would be a normal weight.

And DD was a normal weight. But it's worth noting DD1 was 8lb 11oz, and DD2 6lb 15oz. So actually, slightly smaller. But totally healthy.
