What should I do?

I'm almost 9 weeks with dc2. I had a scan this week due to some spotting (it was after a poo, was horribly constipated) and cramping. All fine, good measurement, exact dates, yolk sac heart beat etc.

Last night I had more post poo bleeding (vaginal, just to point out) and then started to get contraction like waves of cramping. I thought it was all over quite honestly. Until....I started throwing up and shitting for England. That continued all through the night, as did spotting whenever I was on the loo.

I've just got out of bed, no expulsions or bleeding since this morning, but am very crampy. I was due for booking on today but have had to cancel due to sickness.

What should i do? Talk to the doctor? Call epu? Just lay on the sofa till I feel better! I'm at a loss really, but am a little scared. Any advice v much appreciated.

Go to EPAU. What you really need to reassure you is a scan. This is the quickest cheapest way to get one.

See I would, but I literally just had one, on Wednesday.....

Do you have a MW? If so call her, otherwise calm the EPU

SarahJinx · 03/10/2013 14:02

No mw yet, was due for booking in today, ironically. Bloody hell.

I'd go to the EPU again. I had scans 4 days apart due to various issues. They told me they would always check as a scan just shows how things are at that exact second, not an indication for the day after.

I hope everything is ok and that you feel better soon.

Thank you. I feel awful really,it's obviously some sort of gastric bug as I feel like I've been hit by a truck.

Will see what they say, thanks for advice

I have this. It happened last night. I was up all night on the loo, lights off but bright enough with street lights, def spotting.

I've threw up a couple of times this morning and have had some awful stomach cramping. I've put it down to a bug. I didn't think it was anything serious.

Have I made the wrong decision?

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 03/10/2013 14:40

I'd go to the EPU.

I am sure if it's not better in a few days, you'll need to go in anyway.

I am not currently pregnant but last year when I was pregnant at around 4 months I had terrible diarrhoea. I mean terrible. We went to a concert with my partner, his nan and his aunt and I ended up spending an hour and a half in the toilets, I kid you not. I nearly fainted.

It didn't seem to affect my little girl, except this was around when first felt her move with little twitterings.

Keep an eye on it.

Go to EPU again. They won't mind honestly. Hope all is ok.

SarahJinx · 03/10/2013 14:54

Demented, if it hadn't been for the spotting and the contraction like pains, I wouldn't be concerned either. I think the spotting is pressure actually (I think I have some sort of cut or some such internally from constipation) bt the pain was intense.

I'm going to call them tomorrow. Really really appreciate all the replies.

Honestly, I would wait a bit, at least phone, not go - because the last place you want to be with a potentially infectious tummy bug is in a horrible waiting room with a load of other worried pregnant women. For you and them. Definitely call if worried but I wouldn't just go in - I would wait until the v&d were done, and if they weren't done after a decent time, reconsider.

Without coming across as horrible, there isn't much that the EPU can actually do. For now I'd wait it out and drink lots of fluids.

I hope it is all OK and you feel better soon.
